  • BOTL UPCOMING MAINTENANCE

Hi Everyone, as mentioned in my introduction post, BOTL needs quite a bit of updating, patching and whatever else I might come across. Over the next few weekends BOTL may be unreachable on occasion as I do migrations or updates, etc. Just be patient - we'll be back! I'll generally try to keep these maintenances until later in the evenings.

As many of you know, I have been stuck in the dial up phase for 12 years due to my location. The only thing available is satellite and the start up cost is ridiculous.

I recently discovered the Sprint Compass Sierra 597 USB Modem and am getting a 60-80% rate in regards to broadband! Even at 60%, it is blowing away dial-up. I plan on dropping my second phone line and my ISP if the test period of a few weeks goes ok (just got the usb modem tonight).

The dilema is sprint doesn't offer an email addy with the card. What is the best current free option? I have had them all but never utilized them...had hotmail, yahoo, and gmail. Couldn't even tell you my login names anymore!

So what is my best switch over in regards to performance and lack of spam. My instinct tells me gmail but wanted to check.

Thanks!
David

I have had Yahoo for 9+ years and love it.

I have my homepage set to Yahoo (my.yahoo.com) and have customized it with modules that show the news, sports, weather, email, calendar, etc.

Gmail's the chite like people before me have said.. its great and gives you two email addresses plus you can use labels quite effectively to organise stuff e.g. if your email is dave@gmail.com and you want all cigar newsletters to go to your cigars folder, when signing up for newsletters etc you can sign up with dave+cigars@gmail.com, then specify all email coming to that address to go directly to the cigars folder.. its easier than it sounds.
