Recommendations for pumpkin beer?

Seems everyone and their dog puts out a Pumpkin beer at this time. Any of them good, or is it just a gimmick?

The seasonal "winter" beers I've had are really hit or miss.

Southern Tier Pumking, Dogfish Head Punkin', Samuel Adams Fat Jack and Elysian The Great Pumpkin are some of the better one's I've had.

Cigar City- Good Gourd Imperial Pumpkin Ale is Tops in your neck of the south .
Weyerbacher Pumpkin, Cottonwood Pumpkin & Jolly Pumpkin La Parcela get high marks and may be near.

Schlafly pumpkin ale and dogfish punkin... Heard great things about southern teir pumking... Your a bit late to he party.. Most pumpkins got released a month ago, and the best brews sell out quickly.. Like 1-7days quick

I've still seen some of the national brew stuff out, Blue Moon has a fall mixed case, and Sam Adam's. I received an email from a local micro brew place that does a pumpkin tap; they fill a huge pumpkin with their pumpkin ale and tap it. People drink out of mini-pumpkins.

If you can find it, I'd suggest TREAT by Midnight Sun Brewing.

If you are ever in the Scottsdale, AZ area around this time of year, visit Four Peaks Brewery and grab some of their Pumpkin Porter. Awesome stuff!!!

Heard good things about that one but is it regional? I think blue moon is good and you can get it anywhere.

The Chatoe Rogue First Growth Pumpkin Ale is the only one this season that I've found and really enjoyed. May try to find a bottle for the post-Thanksgiving meal.

I don't care for pumpkin but a lot of people at a local cigar bar seem to love the Shipyard Smashed Pumpkin

I can second the southern tier and the DFH both are great beers. One of my personal favorites are terrapin pumpkin fest.

Also I love Fishermans Imperal Pumkin Stout, very good.

Shipyard Pumpkinhead is great - favorite for me every year!

Southern Tier Pumpking is good for 1/2 glass after that it is a little to sweet for me.

My recommendation is to NOT drink it.

I hate anything that tastes like Pumpkin.....That Sh^t is NASTY! :barf:

Pumpking is my absolute favorite. Also Elysian has a ton of great pumpkin beers, my local bar has had close to a half dozen rotate on their taps in the past month. All great!
