  • BOTL UPCOMING MAINTENANCE

Hi Everyone, as mentioned in my introduction post, BOTL needs quite a bit of updating, patching and whatever else I might come across. Over the next few weekends BOTL may be unreachable on occasion as I do migrations or updates, etc. Just be patient - we'll be back! I'll generally try to keep these maintenances until later in the evenings.

CUE DIC 03 (REVUSADO 09/04)" - What does this mean and why does it happen? What are the standards for this?

Did some searching. Found this over at CigarPass

"Revisado means that the box was opened and inspected. Cuba does this every couple of years to ensure the old boxes are still good.

Nothing to worry about - completely legit (from the Manager of Caracol in Havana, Cuba). You might also find two nail holes!"

'03 doesn't seem that "old" to require it, but who knows

Ditto. The 03 kind of throws me off though. Which vendor is this from?

Didn't figure it was, just curious as to what it meant. So, if the box is opened and inspected, it gets another stamp?

The box was "REINSPECTED" ---- and judged as proper to sell.... It's a current quality indicator usually for older stock that was subjected to re-inspection - or sometimes, when cigars of a known vitola and date code are associated with a problem batch - these are submitted for official reinspection so the dealer can sell them off despite a bad rep... Some of the 1999 through earlier 2001 vitolas were notorious for construction problems , terrible draw, plugged etc... Consequently, a bunch of these have been sitting in warehouses and the dealers not able to move them owing to the poor rep.... So they are submitted for reinspection and if they PASS, they acquire the 2nd stamp and advertised as such.

Just picked up some April 01 Cohiba Lancero's "Revisado" in Feb 05. Haven't fired one up yet, but I'm sure they will be fine. I've had other Revisado's that were just fine.

I actually posted this for verification on what it actually meant. A couple BOTL's and myself were discussing Ravi's box-codes and came across that.

Quit thread jacking Dave :grinFU:

I e-mailed Ravi for a box code list and he had a couple in stock that had Revisado. It was no cigar in particular.

MAN IF YOU GUYS DIDNT KNOW WHAT REVISADO MEANT YOU NEED A NEW HOBBY..........................................................................................................just kidding of course...lol

one would think of revised if thinking spanish and english is sometimes close...but anyway it is normal that venders open and inspect any older boxes laying around it simply lets the buyer or potential buyer know they were checked and are in good condition.
there are many older boxes without the revisado but they still were most likely inspected as all are somewhat when the bubble wrap goes in...if your talking ravi that is..

to make it clear, REVISADO and date is stamped by Habanos SA, in Cuba. Not by the vendor.
