So I've found a really good deal on some optics out here in Amarillo. I'm going to be leaving here in 5 hours, so I need advice quickly. They have a Zeiss Conquest 3.5-10x44mm for $599 (plus 20% off). They have multiple Leupold scopes, a VX-i 4-12x40mm for $279 (plus 20% off), a VX-iii 3.5-10x40mm for $479 (plus 20% off), and VX-iii 4.5-14x50mm but I can't remember if it was $599 or $699 (plus 20% off). Any input would be greatly appreciated!

BTW, it's for a pump-action 30-06 Remington.

All great names in optics, but my pick goes to the bold, underlined..... For those super long, open country Texas shots you guys get down there. But again, all you listed above are good, quality optics.

I was too late. . .I was going to tell you to go with a USO ST-10 if they carry them. . . Leupold makes a good scope, but I am not a fan of the 50mm objective lense. You may find that you have to go with much higher rings than desired depending upon your mounting system. Higher rings are often required for the 50mm bell to clear the barrel. This may change your cheek weld, which may affect your POA/POI. The 50mm will give you a lot of brightness, but has drawbacks. I am a huge fan of the 40mm - 44mm sizes.

True enough about the higher rings. They are about a 1/4" higher than standard rings, but in actual "usage" you won't be able to tell the difference, unless maybe you are a very small framed person..... And you may be, I have no idea. I'm 5'11" and it makes no noticable difference to me, as I have both standard and the higher set rings for 40mm and 50mm's. But, as when changing any optics you'll need to re-zero at the range.

I went with the VX-iii 3.5-10x40mm. The 50mm was the VX-L which has the cutout so you don't have to go with the higher rings. I just don't think I need the 50mm, though.
