  • BOTL UPCOMING MAINTENANCE

Hi Everyone, as mentioned in my introduction post, BOTL needs quite a bit of updating, patching and whatever else I might come across. Over time BOTL may be unreachable on occasion as I do migrations or updates, etc. Just be patient - we'll be back! I'll generally try to keep these maintenances until later in the evenings.

Got hooked up by my cousin with a pre-release...let's see if rocky can redeem himself...I do enjoy the Decade, but sadly, thats about it from him.

i am excited to try this though

Wrapper: Ecuadorian Habano
Binder: Nic and Honduras
Filler: Nicaragua
Strength: Medium

Appearance and Prelight:
Love the size, and the box press. Cigar is packed tight and is very firm. The Ecuadorian habano wrapper looks amazing with one tiny vein. This suggests that the wrapper leaf is not too terribly old. There is only one vein running halfway up the body on the underbelly of the stick. The wrapper is very dark brown and smells of leather, slight chocolate, and nutty undertones. Prelight draw gives a great sweet earth and nuts combo; leading me to become more excited to light it.

First Third:
A very light initial taste soon develops into a sweet earthy taste with an underlying cocoa flavor. Very smooth and balanced. The finish is also smooth with hints of chocolate and smooth coffee. The cigar is yielding a ton of rich and creamy smoke that flows away nicely into the night sky.

Second Third: As the second third approaches, the flavors do not so much change as they do get sweeter and more potent. opening up into a new subtle spice that on the finish is wonderful. No overly complex at this point, but it is most enjoyable. The smoke is so think and hangs in the air for a long time. Woody flavor as well as the cocoa also gets ramped up a little. man, this is great so far.

Final Third: A nice burst of spice and wood dominate the start of the last part of the smoke. The cigar is burning quite fast at this point. This is the first time that i have detected any nasal spice, and its very good. The bold woodiness and spice built up well into the last inch. The smoke finished in a full flavored, medium bodied masterpiece IMO.

Burn/Ash/Draw:First things first- Draw was spectacular! I almost could not believe it. Rocky has really stepped up his game and i hope every cigar from this line will have this quality. The ash was flaky, and only held for an inch or so. The burn was a 9/10 in my book.

Overall Thoughts: Here's my bottom line: If all the cigars in this line are made with this care and quality, the 15th anni will earn a nice, comfy spot in my humidor. I honestly believe that this is a great opportunity for Rocky to turn heads and opinions.

Thanks for reading everybody!

Nice review! How did you manage to score one of these, an event or something?

I personally think Rocky started coming "back" with the Olde World Reserve, though I know not everyone loves those. I also agree that the Decade is a great cigar (especially with a year or so of age).

I'm looking forward to trying the 15th!

So, I'm trying to figure out the naming... 15th Anniversary. The Decade was the 10th Anniversary, and was just released in 2007. Now, 3 years later, we're at 15th Anniversary? Is this strictly due to aging time before release?

Its the 15th anniversary of him being in the blending and cigar industry.

The timing is weird because he worked FOR Indian Tabac for 3 years prior to breaking off with his own company.
