  • BOTL UPCOMING MAINTENANCE

Hi Everyone, as mentioned in my introduction post, BOTL needs quite a bit of updating, patching and whatever else I might come across. Over time BOTL may be unreachable on occasion as I do migrations or updates, etc. Just be patient - we'll be back! I'll generally try to keep these maintenances until later in the evenings.

Hey Brothers,

I'm going to be out in San Diego this weekend for my brother-in-law's wedding. We'll be getting into town Friday afternoon and leaving some time on Sunday. To be completely honest I'm not sure how much free time I'm going to have but I would like to try and meet up with some of you at some point. Let me know if there are any good B&M's close to the Gaslamp Quarter that I might be able to sneak away to for a couple hours.

I could probably make Friday or Saturday night. Theres quite a few lounges and it's fairly easy to find places that allow smoking on the patio

I'm free after the kiddos hit the sack on Friday and Saturday night.

Let me know if and where you plan on meeting up, and I'll bring some limes...:devilhead

I'm down as well. For the gaslamp there are a couple cigar shops, but nothing stands out. Sean might be better equipped to speak on them, but they are tourist traps and priced accordingly. Just outside of Downtown in Old Town (a brief trolley ride away) are a couple of cigar shops, Racine and Laramie, and then Churchills. For downtown smoking venues, J-bar atop hotel solamar allows cigar smoking in their circular bar area - and the Ivy Rooftop at the Andaz Hotel also allow for smoking of cigars http://rooftop600.com/

Cool, I'll try and figure out what's going on as far as rehearsal dinner etc... But I'm thinking Friday night would be best. I'll keep you guys posted.

Looks like we're staying at the Hotel Palomar on 5th and Broadway. We're carpooling out there so I may or may not have a vehicle at the time. Here's what I found withing walking distance of the hotel. Is any place better or worse than the others?

Habana Club
Cuban Cigar Factory
Cesars Cigar and Wine Bar
Tabac Specialty Coffee & Cigars

Still looking like Friday night would be best.

While those might be good places to buy cigars if you don't have enough on you, they aren't the most ideal smoking venues. Most bars allow cigars on the patio, but with a Friday night might fill up quickly or have enough crowds to have patrons opposed to it. I will try and catch up on the tail end of this, but my suggestion is still a rooftop downtown. There are several rooftop venues. Another good spot is the Fox Sports Grill at the Hilton Bayfront has an outdoor seating area you can smoke at, the omni hotel next to petco park also has an outdoor dining area you can smoke at.

Hotel Palomar also has a 3rd floor I believe it is outdoor area where the pool is, I know you could smoke there in recent years - if you still can that might make a good choice. Outdoor space, good bar and where you'll be anyway.

As far as I know these are all tourist trap spots, aimed at gouging the folks wandering around the gaslamp.

I've heard horror stories about each one. If you need a ride and want to get outta down town, I'm sure Sdshark or I could come get you, no problemo!

That's kind of what I figured. I don't mind buying a cigar or paying a cutting fee to use the lounge, but I don't want to be ripped off either. I'm planning on bring my traveldor with me so it doesn't even need to be a cigar lounge. I may take you up on the offer for a ride. What's your normal B&M, Liberty?

That's not a bad idea either, It's definitely close. As long as they don't have a problem with a huge cloud of cigar smoke.

Normally I buy from Racine & Laramie, Churchills, or out by me I buy from Hoffers or House of Cigars. Liberty rarely has what I am looking for.
