  • BOTL UPCOMING MAINTENANCE

Hi Everyone, as mentioned in my introduction post, BOTL needs quite a bit of updating, patching and whatever else I might come across. Over time BOTL may be unreachable on occasion as I do migrations or updates, etc. Just be patient - we'll be back! I'll generally try to keep these maintenances until later in the evenings.

So I bought a used savinelli 616 ks in an antique store, and then, later back home, the stem snapped right off. Turns out it had been broken and glued back on. Shoulda taken notice at the store but didna. Caveat emptor.

Anyhow, I have some DIY ideas how to fix it, but out of curiousity - how much would an official solution from the factory store set me back?

no idea, but there are people who do stem repair and replacement. as that sav seems to be a standardized size, it may not be a huge to replace. maybe 30ish? it is a hand done thing, and not really something they have laying around. walker briar works would be my recommendation.

as for FACTORY replacement, i really have not seen much in the "stems for sale" line. nording sells churchwarden replacement stems, but that is an exception, and meant to mod an existing pipe into an ape hanger.

Local shop here sends them out to a place in the UP. Think it's $17 for stem repair and replacement. Wouldn't be an "official" savinelli repair.
