So i can just store the tin? I thought most guys open the tin up and jar it anyways because tin seals aren't that great?
They are really basically the same price. 3 bucks cheaper for bulk.
So the tobacco tastes exactly the same tinned vs bulk?
Yes - It all starts the same way, just the packaging is different.
The seals on the tins are perfectly fine for storing, cellaring, aging - whatever you want to call it. Many men "age" their pipe tobaccos in the tin. Once the seal on the tin has been broken however, the seal is no where nearly as effective. Some guys age in glass. It's whatever, but there is seemingly proponents for each method. Aging in a sealed tin, and aging in glass from what I have read is two entirely different things and can age the tobacco "differently."
I don't know what method produces what result as I am a noob myself, but considering my readings, I know I have already bought some tins and placed them in a dark and cool space for consumption at a later date.
As you surf pipe and tobacco porn, you will note that some stores actually have tins on "consignment" sale. I have seen some tins that are 10 years old go for 5 times the asking price of todays tin.
