  • BOTL UPCOMING MAINTENANCE

Hi Everyone, as mentioned in my introduction post, BOTL needs quite a bit of updating, patching and whatever else I might come across. Over time BOTL may be unreachable on occasion as I do migrations or updates, etc. Just be patient - we'll be back! I'll generally try to keep these maintenances until later in the evenings.

WTF?? 10 minutes into the tat west, and it stopped burning,,, at least i thougt it did... touch up, and it burnt out the side - about an inch down! i cut it at the burn mark and it had only burned perhaps the the diameter of the point of a pencil (1 mm), straight thru the middle. tried to relight, and the same thing happend.... i've never had this happen before. i'm thinking, too moist,,, but the cooledor is showing optimum conditions, and they've been in for several weeks. needless to say, the cigar is shot to shi$$.

any thoughts?

I am sorry for your loss.

Do you know how long it was in the cooler before you lit it? My thought is if was a really wet when it was put in maybe it would take longer to settle to a proper RH. I have pulled out cigars that still seemed a little wet to smoke but I then pulled out one next to it the next day and it was a little dry. .02

I had a DPG Black Figurado do that to me. After it burnt through an inch down I cut it like you did then it just went on a fast burn down the one side. I kept smoking it thinking it'd fix itself which it did. There appeared to be a tunnel down the filler, and since it was a figurado it eventually ran into the wrapper. If if was a parejo I think it would have ended like yours did.

See it's not just you, the rest of us just aren't posting a new thread crying about it!:tongueout

Sounds like it's rolled improperly.

I think Kevin's assessment is spot on. This usually occurs when several of the natural air tunnels running through the cigar are blocked. It can happen with any cigar that is hand rolled, long filler and to any ring gauge.

Nice toothbrush! I have had that exact same thing happen with that exact same cigar. I think tubaman is right about it as opposed to storage, mine was in for 10 months of 65% Humidity.
