  • BOTL UPCOMING MAINTENANCE

Hi Everyone, as mentioned in my introduction post, BOTL needs quite a bit of updating, patching and whatever else I might come across. Over time BOTL may be unreachable on occasion as I do migrations or updates, etc. Just be patient - we'll be back! I'll generally try to keep these maintenances until later in the evenings.

Serious?

"In addition, less honorable cigar manufacturers will artificially color their leaves with dyes to create a visual appeal."

I've never heard of this, anyone know of any brands that actually do this?

Well, if you're smoking a maduro cigar and after a while you're lips and fingers turn brown, that's one of the brands that does it.

You can often tell the difference just by the way it looks. I don't have a picture or anything to show a specific example but any cigar that is totally uniform in color is most likely one that is dyed. All leaves are going to have a bit of a color difference throughout them.

Amen. Just take a paper towel and slightly dampen it, rub it on a maduro, if the color transfers to the towel...there's yer sign!

Knew this, especially with maduros and obscuros, but was unaware RP did it...they will still taste the same to me (The Edge will still be a good, cheap cigar), but I'll admit I'm dissapointed.

I'm willing to bet that Fuente doesn't make a dishonest cigar in the bunch??? No dyed wrappers at Fuente, Padron, Tat, DPG, Oliva, La Flor, and I'm sure there are many more. These cigar companies are passionate about what they put in and not how to market there falsely colored stix. It's probably cheaper to dye the wrapper and use a shitty wrapper just to increase there bottom line and then invest in the marketing and get it into some poor idiots mouth.
