  • BOTL UPCOMING MAINTENANCE

Hi Everyone, as mentioned in my introduction post, BOTL needs quite a bit of updating, patching and whatever else I might come across. Over time BOTL may be unreachable on occasion as I do migrations or updates, etc. Just be patient - we'll be back! I'll generally try to keep these maintenances until later in the evenings.

So I was smoking a carlos torano corona today that was sent to me by a mystery brother and it was great. Then I started to realize that the shop that I always go to only carries large ring gauge sticks. I think the only thin cigars they carry are the opus x and some flavored ones. I just thought I would explain my frustration and see if anyone else sees the same thing where they are.

Now that you mention it...that's probably why I tend to do most of my cigar buying on the internet. Well over half of the cigars in my humis are PCs, or smaller. I don't have the attention span to nurse a two hour cigar, and I get to try more different sticks this way. I'd rather burn a Juan Lopez PC or a Boli PC, + something else, than one bigger stick.

I see lots of variety in the shops out here. Try changing shops or talk to the owner I'm sure he would appreciate the feedback.

Same here.

I tend to find the smaller cigars, 4x44 and around there, not only more tasty, but more frequently enjoyable. Its not a matter of attention span, because I absolutely love to spend a few hours with a salomone or double corona. Its more an issue of how infrequently I find myself in the right atmosphere and environment to completely enjoy such a cigar.

45mins to 1hr is far more realistic.

If the time is there, and the mood/company is right, you can't complain about smoking 2-3 different PCs either.

The B&M I go to most frequently has about a 60-40 break down. Needs to get more of the Smaller ring guages.

I am in an interesting predicament here. I too enjoy the smaller ing gagues more, or at leaset I have the time to smoke them more often than I do the time to smoke a larger smoke. So I have smoked all my small stuff and my humi is full of fat long cigars. I hate to smoke half a churchill and throw the rest away, but it's coming to that.

I love smoken great stuff. To me, makes no difference in the size, as long as it is good. Yesterday I smoked two robustos and a petit corona. Today, I will smoke a Toro and a Churchill. It all depends on how much time I have.

And if my local B & M doesn't have the sze I need, I have many other resources or trades with you all that can be accomplished really quick! hehe Or Drive bys.... Ask Dave! Muhaha I feel another one coming!

I can't wait till this "small ring guage" fad is over.
smoking since early 60's; most popular cigars (sales) were narrow RG (Panetella and corona)
that's the reason machine mades were usually 40-46rg max
fat stix became prevalent in the 90's, so they're the 'fad'.

personally, I love a good churchill or even a Lusi, but often have time only for
the narrower quickies, which I enjoy greatly.:smokingme

FWIW i was just reading somewhere that Zino Davidoff always said that anyone who smoked more than a half of a cigar was a brute, or something like that. But then I thought that he was just trying to sell more cigars. I don't smoke too many Churchills though. Mostly Robustos and Toros. If I only smoked half, there would not be that much to smoke in the first place.
