  • BOTL UPCOMING MAINTENANCE

Hi Everyone, as mentioned in my introduction post, BOTL needs quite a bit of updating, patching and whatever else I might come across. Over the next few weekends BOTL may be unreachable on occasion as I do migrations or updates, etc. Just be patient - we'll be back! I'll generally try to keep these maintenances until later in the evenings.

So what should go in the bar...

Another thread on antoher board got me thinking about what should be in your bar.

I was going to run to the liquor store tonight to get some more wine but thought about grabbing something else to put out for company.

Gin?
Port?
Cognac?

What's a good thing to have on hand incase company wants something other than scotch or rum?

Don't forget your mixers and condoments for the light weights. Bloody Mary mix for the morning kick starts.

I think it really depends on how much space you have and if you have a bar. If this is for personal use or if you like to entertain people. How much money do you have and how much are you looking at allocate to stemware, and how much you can allocate the beverages. Are you going to stock lower grade (well) alcohols and more expensive (top shelf) alcohols because some drinks you want a higher quality liquor for.

It depends on how ye drink and yer guests. For me? Rum and scotch for me and beers to share (and enjoy meself). Then again, that is right now.

You should have some vodka in your liquor cabinet Rob. Absolut never seems to give me a headache when I drink it.

I like to keep gin also. In the summer, I love Tanqueray and tonic!

thats a gorgeous bar, very nice:thumbsup::thumbsup:

Thats a good question, here is my answer.
This:

I couldnt fit it all
Im a known beer guy, when I have friends or "guests" they always know I will have plenty/variety of beer, so if they want liquor they usually just bring some with. I never turn down a good redbull and Jager!

I'm surprised nobody has mentioned it yet, but bourbon and tequila have always been staples in my bar. I enjoy sipping bourbons like Van Winkle Special Reserve or Blanton's and margaritas in the summer are always good.

What to keep in a bar? Depends on what you like, how much $ you have and what your friends like to drink.

Ususally, I like single malt scotch (Macallan, Balvenie, etc.), bourbon (Maker's Mark, Woolford Reserve, etc.), tequila (Patron Silver), and then I ususally keep vodka (stoli or Grey Goose) and rum (10cane) available.

Good luck with stocking.
