Is it okay to call California 'Cali'?

Thru the brotherhood, I have come across numerous members referring to California as "Cali." I have an opinion on this, but I thought it would be fun to do a little social science instead...

I like it, Sean. What's your hypothesis? Or, might stating it affect the results?
That is, I like Social Science when it seems to confirm what I think I know. I also like it when I learn something I hadn't previously considered. I don't really like it much when it concludes something vastly different from my truth.

Yeah, I really didn't wanna soapbox this one... so I thought I would toss it out there, and get a consensus. After all, maybe I am being too sensitive?

I just don't like the way it sounds. "Cali." I also don't like "So-Cal." But I don't like a lot of things, so... yeah. lol.

What about 'Frisco'?

I think that's where we went wrong. When lazy or cutesy people started saying Frisco, the rest of us didn't rise up, revolt and create polls and stuff. 'Frisco' became OK, then SoCal, and now we have nobody to blame but ourselves. Anyway, I can't be outraged anymore since OED and other 'respectable' sources say that its OK to say 'literally', when something isn't really 'literally' anything.

HAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAAAAAA!!

In Fresno's defense, I played a few gigs there on tour... those shows were INTENSE.

And yes - Frisco, San Fran, Vaykay, and Chillaxin' all make my skin crawl.

Also, any "Whale's Vagina" jokes about San Diego... Anchorman was a great film, except I feel like it crapped all over my hometown.

How about "really don't care"?

Didn't see that as an option.
