BOTL UPCOMING MAINTENANCE
Hi Everyone, as mentioned in my introduction post, BOTL needs quite a bit of updating, patching and whatever else I might come across. Over the next few weekends BOTL may be unreachable on occasion as I do migrations or updates, etc. Just be patient - we'll be back! I'll generally try to keep these maintenances until later in the evenings.

Yeah, it's my hobby, I love the 18th century. We used to do a lot of camping at reenactments, most French and Indian and revolutionary war events. Too old to camp anymore, but still do about 7 shows a year. My biggest is in June, I have been in a very prestigious art gallery for about 7 years now and they do a huge, high end show in June, don't know why I'm there but they keep inviting me back.
Are those cups made from horns (first pic, upper right hand corner)?
Negative, I don't make cups, the ones hanging are rum horns. The others that are standing are horn boxes with candle cups turned down into the wooden cap.
Like it, but back to the rum horn..... It's not a cup but made for rum?
Correct, it has wooden ends in and they are sealed so they don't leak, there's a plug drilled into the top on the horn to fill and drink from, two steel staples on both wooden ends for a strap to be attached and you could carry it with while in the woods hunting. Their hunts were nothing like ours today. They were referred to as Longhunters and may have been out for two weeks and the longest one on record was close to two years. They were market hunters for the most part to bring in meat, rendered fat, hides and anything else that could be used from the kill and were paid for the parts they brought back to the fort or village. Rum was a favorite to have for the evening when back at camp or sitting alone by their fire in the woods after they ate supper.
