  • BOTL UPCOMING MAINTENANCE

Hi Everyone, as mentioned in my introduction post, BOTL needs quite a bit of updating, patching and whatever else I might come across. Over the next few weekends BOTL may be unreachable on occasion as I do migrations or updates, etc. Just be patient - we'll be back! I'll generally try to keep these maintenances until later in the evenings.

Hey fellas, summer is fast approaching and I don't know about you guys, but at my house that means "garden parties" and cookouts with friends and family.

When you entertain for a group and want to mix up a pitcher of adult beverages, what's your favorite recipe?

Here are a couple of mine:

Sangria is a favorite where you can jazz up a semi-exciting red wine with sliced citrus and a small dose of sugar. Get it all into a pitcher with some ice cubes made from OJ or frozen citrus slices and you are good to go!

Another for the later afternoon, or evening at my house is spiked coffee in a pitcher. We do coffe ice cubes for this one, and coffee that has been chilled. Spike it with some Khalua, Baileys, Amaretto, or a combination of these. Add creamer if it's your style and you're all set.

Both of these go well with stogies, IMO.

I know many of you like your liquor straight or like to mix your drinks in a single serving... but this thread is all about "bulk" beverages.

Post them up!

Kamakazie! Mix lime juice, Triple Sec, and Vodka in a pitcher. Boom, you're done. I like a little more lime juice in mine than most, makes it taste a little more like limeade I think. Just don't mistake it for the koolaid pitcher lol.

:scratchhe Tablespoons? Unless this is a cake you surely meant ounces. Been meaning to make some of these up for guests, thanks for the reminder.

Here's a favorite of mine that an old friend brought back from the Philipines called "The Mojo". Tastes great and really sneaks up on you so be careful. Sorry, it won't fit in a pitcher but if you've got a punch bowl you're good to go.

The Mojo
1 qt your choice of light rum
1 qt your choice of dark rum
1 pint cherry brandy
6 cans lager
5 cans 7-Up soda
4 qt pineapple juice
2 bags ice

Mix all of the ingredients together in a large punch bowl, make sure that you stir it before you serve it to keep it from separating.

Mojito, cahipirinha and the traditional daiquiri are the only ones I even bother with mixing that could be considered "seasonal" in me arsenal.

I like to take a seedless watermelon and freeze it in cubes. Then add rum Cranberry juice, orange juice, and lime. I call it a watermelon madras.

I usually do mojitos and caipirinhas by the pitcher. Another good one is the John Daly: Sweet Tea vodka (Firefly or my favorite, Jeremiah Weed) and lemonade.
