  • BOTL UPCOMING MAINTENANCE

Hi Everyone, as mentioned in my introduction post, BOTL needs quite a bit of updating, patching and whatever else I might come across. Over the next few weekends BOTL may be unreachable on occasion as I do migrations or updates, etc. Just be patient - we'll be back! I'll generally try to keep these maintenances until later in the evenings.

Sweet, sweet ozone!

lol, you serious? I don't know if that was a joke, but check the flapper at the bottom. Sometimes, like on my toilet, calcium deposits build up so it doesn't seal properly. Other than that, you can try bending the rod the float ball sits on downward so the fill level is lowered slightly. The chain can also 'knot' causing the flapper to not seal all the way.

No, I wasn't serious.

You're cracking me up, dude.

Man Eric you are nuts!!! I've done some wacky shit in my life but I never would have tried that one. God help the brother you're tricking for the Halloween exchange!!!! You handing out ozone to the kiddies for Halloween this year too? Come on kiddies gather round the light.... :hysterica

All kidding aside, stay safe Eric. That thing doesn't look safe to use at all. I wouldn't leave that unattended without some kind of safety device on there.

I agree with everyone that you are nuts, pretty ingenious, and destined to give yourself a brain tumor if you're not careful. I still can't do it (smoke inside). I will be huddled outside with my stogies all winter. Nice job Eric!

Ozone is REALLLLY bad for you and can last up to 30 min b4 it dissipates. Depending on the size of the space it used in and for how long toxic levels can build up b4 you know it. Ozone is great if used properly or could lead to many health problems if used incorrectly. Good job on putting it together but I sure as hell wouldn't want that thing running in my apt/house for any length of time....nor would I let it operate while I left to do something.

Not trying to be a dick just trying to keep ya from burning down your place or getting really sick.

"Q: What is the difference between corona discharge (CD) and ultraviolet light (UV) ozone?
A: CD ozonators use an exposed electrical arc to generate ozone. A byproduct of Corona Discharge ozonation is nitric acid. When mixed with moisture from the humidity in the room this corrosive “syrup” contaminates the surfaces that produce the ozone. This requires frequent cleaning of the arcing surfaces or the contamination will reduce the ozone output of the generator. UV lamps use concentrated ultraviolet light waves to produce ozone. These bulbs do not produce harmful residues. Humidity does not affect their function. There is no need for regular cleaning."

Yes I spoke to both of his heads last week. They said that they were doing well but they have spent more on hats and shampoo than they saved by making that ozone unit. :facerub:
