  • BOTL UPCOMING MAINTENANCE

Hi Everyone, as mentioned in my introduction post, BOTL needs quite a bit of updating, patching and whatever else I might come across. Over the next few weekends BOTL may be unreachable on occasion as I do migrations or updates, etc. Just be patient - we'll be back! I'll generally try to keep these maintenances until later in the evenings.

If you haven't been paying attention to the other posts, I've created this one with the dates in the title to see if there is any further interest. So far, the list of attendees will be:

JWRussell*
Lord Oliver*
HeadBanger
Tubaman
Josh
aleam_38*
Boppa-Wasch
PharmGator*

*Locals, either Tampa or Orlando

If you are interested, please post here or PM me. The more the merrier by all means!

Now, for those already confirmed. So far I know the following schedules:
Josh: Arriving in Tampa Friday afternoon? Please confirm this when you can
Josh. Also let me know when you are planning heading out.
Aleam_38 & Tubaman: Eric and Kevin should be arriving in Tampa Saturday
afternoon around 12:30 or so.
Boppa-Wasch: Ray is arriving around 1-2pm Friday.
Headbanger: Steve should be arriving mid-day Friday.
That leaves Lord Oliver. PM sent, let me know your time table bro.

So far, Friday afternoon should have Steve and Ray here definately and possibly Josh. I've got a couple personal days left at this point so I will most likely take either all of Friday or Friday afternoon off and come meet up with you guys...most likely at the Sailport Waterfront Suites where Steve and Ray will be staying (www.sailport.com). Between the Hotel's outdoor areas and the local restaurant's/bars (and by local I mean right around the corner there are three of them: Whiskey Joe's, Crawdaddy's and the Rusty Pelican) we should be able to entertain ourselves for the afternoon/evening. I'm not going to try to plan this afternoon/evening out just yet. If you guys have specific requests for this time period PM me and I'll see what we can work out. Otherwise we can play it by ear. It's a small enough group that we can do just about anything.

Saturday. Kevin and Eric will be arriving around noon. I don't know about the rest of you but I'm not much of an early riser, so this might be the best time to get things rolling on Saturday (of course my mind can be changed). I'm afraid Golf is pretty much out as the only person that expressed any interest was Eric and he won't be arriving until after noon. Considering Eric and Kevin will be leaving between 8 and 9pm I need to fit in as much herfing as possible and splitting two of us off from the group for upwards of 4 hours just doesn't seem in the spirit of the whole get-together. There's been a goodly amount of interest in visiting Ybor City. There are upwards of 10 Cigar retailers and around 5 manufacturers in Ybor. Most everything is on or off of 7th Ave which is the main drag there. Ybor Square will be a definite stop and is just two streets up from 7th Ave. We should be able to grab lunch there as there are a BUNCH of restaurants. I'll need to know people's preferences on this: do you prefer to eat somewhere we can smoke, or is that not that big of an issue? If not, I would recommend The Columbia, they have excellent food and as it's Spanish/Cuban food it fits right in. I've been to Ybor exactly twice and it's been a long time, so this should be a good time. Eric and Kevin, it will probably be best to have you guys meet us here. The rest of us can coordinate arriving around noon.

I really don't know how much time we are going to need/want to spend here. Considering the time table, I think Dinner should be around 6pm. If everyone is good with that then I'll make a reservation at Grill Smith for that time. If we get out of Ybor with enough time we can head over to Famous Cigar Bar before dinner. And depending on how people feel we can head that way after dinner as well.

Unfortunately Poker is just going to have to be played by ear. I know Steve wants to play and I know Kevin would like to, but considering the time table, I don't know if we'll be able to fit it in before you have to head back to Orlando Kevin. Sorry bro'. Obviously if the time table allows we'll make sure it happens and I'll throw my chip set into the car with me so that we can play wherever. If it comes down to it Steve, there is always the local card room.

All of these schedules are flexible and I've probably allocated more time than necessary in some places, but the last thing I want to do is rush things.

As for Sunday, I'm going to leave that completely open as people will be heading out at different times.

So, let me know what you think and if you aren't on the list and plan on attending, let me know!

ETA:

For those of you staying at the Sailport, I just got this back in an email from them:
We do not rent bait or tackle, but there is a bait and tackle shop in
Clearwater that does. It's only about a 10 minute drive from the hotel.
There is a place to rent wave runners only 1/2 mile away. They are called
Radical Water sports and they have a booth at the nearby Radisson Bay Harbor
Hotel.

Jason, if we don't play poker it's not a big thing. I would love to play, but it's herfin' that's the important thing!!! Besides, I'd feel bad taking y'alls money anyway. :peace:

I like the idea of meeting up somewhere for lunch and then going from there to herf. You da boss of this herf, so whatever you want to do is cool. I personally would like a restaurant that we can smoke, but that's me. If everyone else doesn't care, I'll go with the flow.

I'm starting to get STOKED for this one!!!

Jason,

Everything sounds great. Dont stress yourself out over trying to entertain us. The main reason we are all going is to hang out and have a couple of smokes with each other. it will be a good time.

I think it would be great to hit up the Columbia, then take a stroll around ybor, smoke a bit etc. before dinner. I am totally not a morning person because I work 2PM-10PM so lunch would be like breakfast for me half the time. hah

I gotta double check with my family as to when I can get a ride up there, but most likely Friday afternoon I'll be going, and staying till Monday probably. I have a couple retired relatives who don't mind the drive, otherwise theres always greyhound. I'll shoot off an e-mail now to nail that down.

We'll be gathering several thousand miles away on the same day ( the 20th ) in Socal. We should set a time where we are all lighting a stick at the same time. I figure 6 EST so it'll be 3 PST. The BOTLs at either herf will all be able to "toast" our brothers coast to coast.

Well, my family in Jacksonville are all busy Wednesday and Thursday before the HERF. So now I am looking to fill two more days. Also need a hotel room for two more days so now this is getting expensive. Wife thinks I should cancel the whole trip.

I might ask Airtran to change my arrival to Miami tho I booked the kind I thought were not able to be changed. While in Miami like to visit the Pepin store and other cigar shops. Maybe even drive to the Keys as well. I am open to suggestions. Shoot me a PM so this thread stays on track.
