Kevin,
Here's what I had regarding Saturday:
Saturday. Kevin and Eric will be arriving around noon. I don't know about the rest of you but I'm not much of an early riser, so this might be the best time to get things rolling on Saturday (of course my mind can be changed). I'm afraid Golf is pretty much out as the only person that expressed any interest was Eric and he won't be arriving until after noon. Considering Eric and Kevin will be leaving between 8 and 9pm I need to fit in as much herfing as possible and splitting two of us off from the group for upwards of 4 hours just doesn't seem in the spirit of the whole get-together. There's been a goodly amount of interest in visiting Ybor City. There are upwards of 10 Cigar retailers and around 5 manufacturers in Ybor. Most everything is on or off of 7th Ave which is the main drag there. Ybor Square will be a definite stop and is just two streets up from 7th Ave. We should be able to grab lunch there as there are a BUNCH of restaurants. I'll need to know people's preferences on this: do you prefer to eat somewhere we can smoke, or is that not that big of an issue? If not, I would recommend The Columbia, they have excellent food and as it's Spanish/Cuban food it fits right in. I've been to Ybor exactly twice and it's been a long time, so this should be a good time. Eric and Kevin, it will probably be best to have you guys meet us here. The rest of us can coordinate arriving around noon.
I really don't know how much time we are going to need/want to spend here. Considering the time table, I think Dinner should be around 6pm. If everyone is good with that then I'll make a reservation at Grill Smith for that time. If we get out of Ybor with enough time we can head over to Famous Cigar Bar before dinner. And depending on how people feel we can head that way after dinner as well.
I never really did get much feedback on this so I'll guess everyone is good with this. We will meet at Ybor on 7th Ave. I don't want to make it any more specific than that. Kevin, I have your cell number, let me know if you need mine. Eric, I sent you mine and have yours as well.
If I don't have your Cell Phone then please PM me with it and I'll respond with mine. That way we can all get ahold of each other.
I'm checking out the outdoor seating situation at the Columbia and Carmines, both Cuban restaurants in the area. I'm not optimistic, nothing I've read says anything about outdoor eating. Right now, the best options look to be
King Corona Cigars & More which is just about perfect and
the Tampa Bay Brewing Co.. I'm waiting to hear back from the Brewing Co regarding their outdoor seating and cigar smoke. But between these two places and the Columbia or Carmines we should be able to figure out lunch without too much of a problem. Speak up if you have a preference. I'm going to try to get in touch with the King Corona cafe and see if they'll take a reservation or not just to be safe.
