  • BOTL UPCOMING MAINTENANCE

Hi Everyone, as mentioned in my introduction post, BOTL needs quite a bit of updating, patching and whatever else I might come across. Over time BOTL may be unreachable on occasion as I do migrations or updates, etc. Just be patient - we'll be back! I'll generally try to keep these maintenances until later in the evenings.

Maybe it's just me, but i seem to notice that cigars taste different depending on where I'm smoking. When I smoke outside it seems that i taste different flavors. It's not necessarily bad, just different. Does anyone know why this may be?

Thanks,
Andrew!

could be realtive air speed affecting burn rate and temp, temperature itself (smell especially comes through better in warm climate), or personal mood. not something i notice, but something i will be on the look out for. o)

Ive noticed if I smoke a regular stick at home in my shed by myself, I get the full affect and enjoy the smoke thoroughly. If I smoke the same stick outside, Ive noticed that Im missing something, and my only thought is that the wind blowing away some of the wrapper smoke that I enjoy. Im one of those guys who puts the cigar to his nose during the duration of my smoke.

Same could be said about smoking at a cigar lounge with a bunch of other people inside smoking different sticks. I dont seem to get that full affect with my smoke.

Just my 2 cents. Your not alone IMO.

I don't know if I notice different flavors, but the smoking experience is certainly changed for me.
I hate sitting in a room full of smoke, so I may like smoking a favorite cigar a little less indoors w/ poor ventilation.

Smoking outside I have noticed that the smells in the air have pretty huge effects on the taste of my cigars. I smoke mostly at work and sometimes the wind comes down off the bay with a salty smell, others from the farm land bringing a manure smell(instantly ruining any cigar), some days no wind, and some times smoky from all the wood stoves in the area. Haven't really noticed a difference inside vs outside except with what smell is in the air already.

I actually just had a mini seminar my last day at the shop on just that.

Smoking indoors has a crazy amount of variables that people don't take into account; fresh air recirculation, intake, pressure, etc. outdoors is much easier too distinguish flavors and enjoy a smoke IMHO it also has its variables; hear, wind, etc.

Nothing makes me happier than a cool evening breeze, 65 degrees, clear weather, and a smoking buddy.

Had to think about this one and id have to say the experience is different but not necessarily the flavor .... And I have to say I prefer smoking outside better 70 degrees and very slight breeze if any. It's just me and my stick. At the bar it's me and my stick every puff then a general cigar scent the rest of the time. I guess breathing "fresh" air between puffs makes each puff independent of the last in a way.

I can't say that i have experienced smoking indoors. My hobby has been mostly an outside experience, but if I am ever indoors I will defiantly pay closer attention.

I've only smoked indoors at shops or friend's houses, but I don't like it as much honestly. I hate all the ambient smoke, and to me it hinders the experience. Weird, I know, but I honestly hate inhaling smoke, lol. I smoke outside, with the wind if there is any.

Have noticed a difference between inside vs outside too. I think I taste and distinguish flavors better inside than out.

Ever notice a difference eating with taste of home made food inside vs. outside?
