  • BOTL UPCOMING MAINTENANCE

Hi Everyone, as mentioned in my introduction post, BOTL needs quite a bit of updating, patching and whatever else I might come across. Over time BOTL may be unreachable on occasion as I do migrations or updates, etc. Just be patient - we'll be back! I'll generally try to keep these maintenances until later in the evenings.

I have had may different Tat's over the last year but not a black. So tell me what is so wonderful about these particular cigars. And also are the better than smoking a VSG or a good Padron Anni? I'm all Ears!! :wtf::wtf::wtf:

serious guys, what is the deal with the Tat Blacks?

I normally try the newer cigars that come but these seem to be along the same lines as Opus and Anejo. A good cigar but over hyped. I guess that is why I haven't tried one, plus I can't locate a shop that has Tat cigars.

I like em'. I have been told I am picky. I do, really like them. It is the size, the taste, the aroma, the appearance and it was the thrill of the chase when they first came out. All of these things come into play. Wait until you hold one in your hands (especially if you only have just one). A masterpiece of cigars. Plus the jar looks nice.

They are almost as good as the Guapos 46.

Donk, the Tat black came about as Pete was spending time in Cuba. While he was there h would go out each morning to smoke and drink coffee, etc. Each day a man would ride my on a bicycle and give him a cigar. The cigar was rough looking, shaggy foot, not an impressive sight but when smoked Pete fell in love with the cigar. When he asked about the cigar it turns out that the man was a torcedore (sp) and the cigar he was giving Pete was his own special blend that he had perfected over the years to his taste. Pete was intrigued by this so wanted to create a similar type of stick for himself, hence the Tatuaje black was born. This cigar is very limited, somewhere around 17,000 i think and if you have smoked other Tatuajes and Pete Johnson sticks you can only imagine how good the Opus equivalent of a Tat would be. This stick is by no means overrated or overhyped, it is worth every penny and whatever time is spent searching for it.

I was lucky enough to find a bundle, I smoked a few and the rest is packed away for aging, well ok, we will see about that.
It's a very good smoke, not Pete's best IMHO but it's a very interesting smoke,
I'll pick the Cojonu 06 or even Noella over the black any day, but that's just me.

they taste different than anything else Pete makes and that's what I appreciate.
in a toss up, I think I would pick a Padron 64 maduro, but maybe that's because I smoke so many of Pete's cigars that a change in brand is just the thing for me to do.

Let's put it this way, it's one of the few NC cigars that will make me think twice before going for my cuban stash.
That is hard t imagine, I have not come across a NC yet that is as satisfying as a good cuban. But I have say that is kind of an interesting idea. Thanks

Well I might have to do some hunting, Or I might wait till the Tat Black lancero comes out.

It is a very good cigar but I am closer to Sasha. Maybe I didnt wait long enough but I did not find this the end all cigar. I know many that will pay the price but I keep looking at my humi and finding cigars I like better for the money like the east coast verocu. But different tastes is what makes the world go round and more for you guys eh.

I dont' know about a tat black lancero, but i do know pete has a new line that shuld be released here within a few weeks. It's an old cubn brand name that i can't recall at the moment, and i believe it is the lancero or panatela size. If it were the tat black blend, that would be unbelievable! But, due to the whole premise of what the tat black is, a reporduction of that bicycle man cigar, i wouldnt' think he would use the same blend on another line. Pete's more original than that!

from my interview:

"A new brand I just registered is the ‘El Triunfador,’ which means, ‘The Winter.’ This will be put into commerce in small quantities, underground to a couple retailers just to keep the brand registered. The size will be just one size, which is a Lancero. It will have a Connecticut broad leaf wrapper. With a mild filler, the wrapper will beef up the strength. You’ll have to search for it as it will be in very small batches."
