  • BOTL UPCOMING MAINTENANCE

Hi Everyone, as mentioned in my introduction post, BOTL needs quite a bit of updating, patching and whatever else I might come across. Over time BOTL may be unreachable on occasion as I do migrations or updates, etc. Just be patient - we'll be back! I'll generally try to keep these maintenances until later in the evenings.

Tat Monsters sold for above MSRP?

Are Tat retailers who received The Face(10 count boxes, not the 13) supposed to sell boxes and/or singles for MSRP? I'm all for capitalism and selling for what the market will bear but for some reason I thought that stores were supposed to sell the monster releases for MSRP. A store I visit sometimes sold singles of the drac for $13 when I picked a few up last year but when I went to pick up a single of the face this year, they wanted $15.

My understanding is that it's frowned upon, but they're free to sell it at the price they so choose. And we are free to choose not to purchase their product.

Hopefully if this vendor is reported to Pete Johnson the it won't get any more LE shipments. Just hopin'...

He didn't do anything about the scalping last year, I don't expect anything to be done this year.

Basically, I try my best not to buy from any retailer that overcharges, period. Sometimes I'm forced to make exceptions in order to get something, and the Tat Monsters have been exceptions (the only places I could score them were charging $225 w/shipping).

As much as I am sure I would enjoy all of the limited release's, I am not going to chase them down. There are WAY to many great cigars that are readily available for me to jump thru the hoops.

If anyone of the unlucky 13 retailers needs to be reported its the one that was getting some ridiculous amount for a 13 count box of the Face and a lighter or whatever it was that was included in the package. I cant remember the exact amount but I think it was somewhere between $400-$600

I got my Face dress box from my local B&M. He told me what the msrp was and that is what i was charged. When I paid cash he gave me 10% off which I thought was great.

Wouldn't you think that the price gouging laws that went into effect several years ago should also be enforced in our little hobby or is it too much of a niche?

Keep in mind that some B&M's add taxes to the cost per stick price and others charge you at the register.

This place had them for $15 PLUS tax. This wasn't one of the unlucky 13 but I highly doubt that it would matter much if they were reported because this place is a large B&M seller of tats

I really doesn't bother me that much. It's their business and they can run it as they will. If I don't like the way the business runs things, I won't buy from them. If I want it bad enough, I'll pay the price. Free enterprise. It's not Pete's job to police a privately owned business.

Yeah I can't really control it. I can only decide next year how many I'll send if I thought they were out of line with prices. Remember some stores have a heavy tobacco tax and the price will get ridiculous from this but you can blame your local and state taxes not the retailer. The only way to have one set price on this would be to sell them from one place that had no taxes.
