  • BOTL UPCOMING MAINTENANCE

Hi Everyone, as mentioned in my introduction post, BOTL needs quite a bit of updating, patching and whatever else I might come across. Over time BOTL may be unreachable on occasion as I do migrations or updates, etc. Just be patient - we'll be back! I'll generally try to keep these maintenances until later in the evenings.

Yeah I can't really control it. I can only decide next year how many I'll send if I thought they were out of line with prices. Remember some stores have a heavy tobacco tax and the price will get ridiculous from this but you can blame your local and state taxes not the retailer. The only way to have one set price on this would be to sell them from one place that had no taxes.
Thanks for chiming in Pete:)

At $15 I don't think that's as ridiculous as Zigari B&M in Ontario, CA. I already had a box thanks to a couple great BOTL here helping me out and I was trying to help another brother out that wanted a box. So I called there and was told they had several boxes available and that I'd get a call back in a couple days, but I was "guaranteed" a box. I get the call back a couple days later and he tells me I have to purchase another box of Tatuajes in order to be able to purchase the box of The Face. Freaking ridiculous!!!!

In order for me to get a dress box from Three J's, I had to buy a regular Tat box :(

I hope Pete doesn't send anything to them anymore.
Didn't buy from them for just that reason. Nice enough guys but didn't like the way they handled the release. Don't mind them telling you to buy another box, my big gripe was they kept changing up how they were going to sell them.

I was lucky enough to meet Pete in Bethlehem PA this year for the monster release on the 15th at cigar international and those are great people that run that shop!! Me & my friend drove 2 hrs from Lancaster to and was lucky enough to be 3rd in line for the Face's and met Pete and he was one of the nicest down to earth guys to talk to. He signed 2 empty boxes and my face box real cool!!! Ok sorry for this long post but after hearing all these horrible things like buy this and get that bullshit but I had such a great time I'm def looking forward for the travel next year just off this one experience.... Stay smoking my fiends!!!

I really doesn't bother me that much. It's their business and they can run it as they will. If I don't like the way the business runs things, I won't buy from them. If I want it bad enough, I'll pay the price. Free enterprise. It's not Pete's job to police a privately owned business.
haha yea id have to agree with you. If you want them buy them and if you dont then dont buy them. Either way they are probably gonna sell them, if not to you then to someone else. its always important to remember that shops are in the business of selling cigars, not collecting or allocating them as they see fit.

I agree with what Pete said. I'm not sure which store in NY it was, but cigar tax in NY is now at 75%. I don't know what the wholesale price of the cigar in question is, but lets say for arguement's sake it's $200. Add 75% to that and you have $350. Retail Mark up...add another $150 or so (or whatever the retailer marks them up for) and you're at $500. Add 8.75% sales tax and you're just under $545 for the box.

Compare that to a state like Florida or PA with very low or no tobacco tax and it's very easy to say someone is gouging when, in fact, they aren't. Remember, MSRP is just a suggestion. It doesn't take into account tobacco tax for each state.

Agreed. However the cigar taxes in the state where this store is located haven't changed lately and the state has a decently tax rate(compared to some other states) of 10%. That 15% increase in monster release single's prices compared to last year at the same store($13-15) appears to be all profit for the store. But they are a private business and I'll either buy one from them or look elsewhere. Just found it a bit surprising when I found out

By the way, thanks for popping in here Pete. I didn't mean to imply(if it came across that way) that I thought you should be regulating the prices the stores charge for your cigars.

This is why I hardly ever smoke in NY...
