  • BOTL UPCOMING MAINTENANCE

Hi Everyone, as mentioned in my introduction post, BOTL needs quite a bit of updating, patching and whatever else I might come across. Over time BOTL may be unreachable on occasion as I do migrations or updates, etc. Just be patient - we'll be back! I'll generally try to keep these maintenances until later in the evenings.

Tatuaje/Padilla/Pepin over CC's

Cuban's have this certain "twang" to them that is very difficult to describe but once you taste it you will know exactly what it is.

All Cuban brands and vitolas have it.

As flavorful as the most flavorful NC is, this "twang" is always missing.

I agree with ya Rob, the NC world would be pretty boring w/out Pepin and the rest. I've said it before I know, but those blacks are unreal. I could easily see those with a $10+ price tag. At $5 and under, you simply cannot beat it. I do want to mention one thing though and this some may not agree with. I do think there is a little bit and in some cases alot of difference in the Tats I first tried and most coming out now. To me they just aren't quite what they were quality/construction wise and I hope this doesn't continue over to the blacks. Interested to know if anyone else feels this way. :ninja:

Just thought I'd mention this. For quite some time I've pushed my #1 cigar hangout (in St. Augustine) to get in gear and secure a Tatuaje/Cabaiguan account. Now this is a shop with a decent sized walk in, but not huge by any stretch. So making room for the 10 boxes they told him he must purchase to get the acct takes some doing. Well, found out yesterday he's pulled it off. I finally have Tats and Cabs locally. All @ MSRP too. Gotta love that!! :smokingbo

I remember hearing of a fire in a tobacco factory in Miami area... it didn't really register at the time, but was this the one and the same? It would certainly explain why some of the 'newer' pepins taste different (less aged/ less smooth?) than those I remember from the past... just my early- morning memory retaliating for a lack of coffee and cigar(s)...
Just my 2 cents worth,
ZugbugPete

I admit it...am a Tatuaje/Pepin whore!

My local b&m has been carrying Tats and Cabs for well over a year now, but they just recently started carrying the Don Pepin labels. My favorites are:

- Tatuaje Noellas
- Tatuaje Tainos
- Tatuaje Cojonu 2006
- Don Pepin Black Label

Also:

Did anyone else notice that the "Tax Seal" changed on the Tat boxes this winter? They look more like a Cuban or Dominican label now, as opposed to the slick/glossy bright green labels of the past.

I recently had a Pepin Black Label and an Arturo Fuente King B immediately afterwards. The King B didn't even have any flavor at all compared to the Black Label.
I was thoroughly surprised, considering King Bs are not bad sticks, especially if you age them for a year or two.
Gonna be lookin' to pick up some of the blacks here shortly.

You and me both then....Best NC out there right now, and I love these things and I am also lucky that my B&M carry most of his stuff. I have a box of Pepin Blue Label Generosos, what a nice looking full flavored Bomb! I also have a box of the Noellas and I must say they are my favorite Pepin so far.

And yes I noticed the new seal on my last box of Noellas and thought to myself that they took a page right out of the cuban seal.

Yeah, the b&m's who didn't get in early have trouble getting the brown labels.

My b&m had nothing BUT brown labels until this past fall. LOL

From what I hear, the Miami Tat's (brown label) is available only if you have an account with Pete and they're not setting up any new accounts but I'm sure the red isn't considered a botique cigar and you could probably set up a new account for those and work up to getting the browns.

I think your right. I have been pushing my friend to get them in and he got the red label and maybe one size of the brown.

This was true, they had a freeze on new accounts till they could increase production. However, the freeze has just unfrozen as my local just got their Tat/Cab account after waiting close to a year. The rep says they are now accepting/opening new accounts. :guitar:
