My in-laws are in town. They got here on Thursday. They'll leave on Sunday. Now, I love my in-laws. They are great and have helped my wife and I out a lot. My mother-in-law is awesome and great to have around. She loves playing with Baby Legends and it's nice to have an extra set of hands around to help out. But she should be sainted for putting up with my father-in-law. He's a nice guy and is probably as responsible as anyone for really getting me into cigars. But he's a pain in the ass.

He's had some major health issues these past 9 months. He had a minor stroke in December and it has taken a toll on him. He'll be retiring from his job effective 9/1. That's been hard for him to handle. He used to work 70 hours a week. The man can not stand to sit still. Even before he had the stroke, he would be a pile of nervous energy. On the weekends, he would get his leaf blower and do the entire street (a cul-de-sac with 12 or some homes to a side.)

Now, he sits in my living room and flips channels on the TV constantly. I mean, he'll watch 30 second of a program and the change the channel. The next channel will have a commercial and he'll sit there and watch that instead of whatever was on the previous one that was not in a commercial break. Then, after a commercial or two, he'll flip along. Anything resembling a pretty woman gets his attention. After she leaves the screen, he flips channels again.

You're probably saying to yourself, "take him out and do something." Well, he walks with a cane and makes like .25 mph. He can't do anything physically exerting. A trip to the grocery store with him takes 3-4 times as long as it should.

Now, you're wondering why I mentioned the forest fires. We have 5 fires 50+ miles north if us burning around 500,000 acres. We're not in any danger from them but the wind is blowing south. As the sun went down, we visibility of about 200 yards. Not exactly the kind of weather you want to be out in. Hell, my living room looks hazy.

So I can't even go outside for a smoke. Here's to some rain.

My family related news from yesterday:

Good news - Looks like we're doing a 1-week cruise for christmas (with in-laws)
* Not bad, since we'll have own room, and be on our own alot of the time.

bad news - Her 95 year old great grandmother may have to go. She doen't know what day it is, what city we live in, and thinks that nicole also took the bar exam in July with me. bless her heart, but logistically, this will be a nightmare. At port, there is NO WAY that she can just be left in the cabin by herself on the boat while everyone else goes. She also thinks she can "do more" than she can, which is dangerous. Anyhow, the family member who alternates caring for her with my M.I.L. says she can't "watch her" for the wek since she's goiung to have lots of family in from out of town. Personally, i think that sux, since she's saying "can't handle her here where i take care of her all of the time. IMPOSSIBLE. Looks like she's going on a cruise ship!" Someone has to sack up and care for this lady, and it seems to me like it should be the one not traveling all around the Carribean.

p.s. - There were "jokes" made last night about my wife and i sharing a cabin with her. That wull not happen. i will take an axe to my achilles and not go at all.

OK, they're fucking driving me nuts. I can't put this over on Hornfans because my wife will see it.

Baby Legends is upstairs in her room trying to nap. The F-in-Law is up there taking a bath and making a huge freaking racket. She takes a nap EVERY DAY about this time. He knows this. We have told him this. Yet, when he decides that he is going to get changed, that's the way it will be, damn it. He's a "my way or the highway" kind of guy. even if he's in our house.

And one last thing. He's got serious "selective" hearing loss. He does have a hearing problem but he also tunes people out. Right now, the TV is loud enough that you can hear it outside. :devilhead
