  • BOTL UPCOMING MAINTENANCE

Hi Everyone, as mentioned in my introduction post, BOTL needs quite a bit of updating, patching and whatever else I might come across. Over time BOTL may be unreachable on occasion as I do migrations or updates, etc. Just be patient - we'll be back! I'll generally try to keep these maintenances until later in the evenings.

Thinking about these - Argyle from Holt's

Anyone every smoked 'em? Seems to be a killer deal. Looking for some cheap smokes as my cigar budget has been slashed as of late.

I did a search for "Argyle" on here and didn't get too much feedback, I think one good, another neutral. Appreciate any/all input!

Argyle Monster Deal $35.00 :dunno:
Includes 30 cigars:

15 Argyle Robusto Natural
15 Argyle Robusto Maduro

Normally not a good idea to buy 30 cigars of a type you have never had before. See if you can buy a single or a 5er first. You may get stuck with 29 cigars you hate.

I have not tried them...these gents got me caught up with the Flor De Oliva's...pretty decent cheap smoke. little sweet at the beginning but mellows out nice. Out of the bundle I got...only 2-3 had any real burn issues...give them a shot if u have not already!

Yeah, I hear ya, I'm just SERIOUSLY low on smokes right now, down to the point where I'm going to "have to smoke the good stuff" and I don't want to do that (yet)...and of course, I'd rather not get stuck with 29 sticks, hence the reason for the post....

I do like the Flor De Oliva's...tried a few at my local B&M, good for the price.

I will 2nd and 3rd these. Awesome sticks for the price! They are sandwich Cigars but you would never know it if I didnt tell you that. I picked 2 5 packs up last time I was in Reno at Dion's shop and am ready to order me a lot more!
Exactly... never know unless someone mentions it.

I bought 46s and 47s and love them.

Well, I went ahead and ordered them (the Argyles), splitting them with two other buddies. If they are turds then I shall reserve them for my "Hey, I know I never bring a cigar but do you have one?" friends.

LOL

I would take a pass on the Argyles. If you want to buy any Holt's bundles, read the descriptions and look for a reference to Holt's Tasting Committee. Any bundle that bears the seal of approval from the Holt's Tasting Committee is generally good, and a good buy for the money. The Argyle description doesn't mention the HTC, and some of the people at the Philadelphia store kind of made a face when I asked about them.

Ditto. Holts will sell the stuff but also give you the whole story on the sticks. Love those guys

Well, it's too late, as I've already ordered them, no worries there, I've got these sticks in mind for a few folks if I dislike them (hey, I'm probably gonna smoke 'em anyway, I've stomached my way through some "real winners" in the past LOL).

I plan on ordering up some of the 7x50 Fumadores in the near future from Holts...and some 7x50 Benchmades from here (http://www.cheapercigars.com/don-pepin-benchmade-cigars.html) unless someone else has a cheaper source.

After settling in my humi for a few days the maduros are even better! Nice and spicy, with a good kick. I usually smoke 2-3 cigars on my usual Tuesday Night shindig, but last night I just had one of the maduros and that was all I needed (granted it was a pretty big weekend of partying/smoking at the lake anyway!). Have yet to try the naturals.
