  • BOTL UPCOMING MAINTENANCE

Hi Everyone, as mentioned in my introduction post, BOTL needs quite a bit of updating, patching and whatever else I might come across. Over time BOTL may be unreachable on occasion as I do migrations or updates, etc. Just be patient - we'll be back! I'll generally try to keep these maintenances until later in the evenings.

Thoughts on "My Father" Lancero

Geez, I must be in the minority, because I think they're VERY flavorful. Sure, they're not nut kickin' strong or anything, but I do think they're quite wonderful.

I've tried all four sizes and I'd say I like the lancero best. I'm a pretty big DPG freak, and I was really excited about this stick, but I was slightly let down. I was told by a local B&M owner that when he talked to Janny she said it would be a very different cigar from the rest of their stuff, obviously because Jaime has the high-hand in blending it. I'd agree with that, but different in a good way? Not so much, but I agree that saying to steer clear of it isn't fair to others with different palates...assuming they wouldn't try it simply because of the post. And I don't think a milder cigar necessarily has less flavor, the Padron thousand series for example is a mild cigar and I think it has tremendous flavor, personally. I think it's worth a shot, it's not your typical Nicaraguan stick, but worth a try! The box is pretty cool though, different from usual DPG stuff.

I have to agree, I found the box and band to be amazing.

Well, i've got one lancero and i'm excited to try it...regardless of this thread and the overwhelming somewhat negatvie respoinse. I'm interested to try something Jaime blended.

I'll post my findings as well.

I did not care for the my father either, it was ok but for the price I would say grab something else for sure.

As for Donks remark on the Rockys, RP rates down their with Gurka for me, good luck wading through all the crap to find something decent. Both lines have some decent sticks, but so many ho-hum sticks they are hard to find. I tried both the fusion and MM lances, but was not impressed by either.

My favorite MF was the NO. 3 by a long shot. I thought all the other sizes fell flat and would advise trying it before writing off the line. I know a few BOTLs that were thoroughly unimpressed and have since taken a liking to the No. 3.

Just my .02

It is called the Cremas and a very unique shape... I think it has young opus characteristics and some interesting transitional phases.

Would recommend that size for sure.

LOL, I know, allthough I believe it is blended by his son. I was just commenting on the remark Donk made about the RP lanceros he tried, post #6, guess I could have been clearer...

I too, was unimpressed with the My Father. It's like a refined Tobacco Beaz.

It's good & I'd recommend at least trying it. I guess I was expecting a smoother El Centurian maybe?

I definitely plan on trying a Lancero. I love that format for getting a sense of the different 'components', but otherwise, this cigar, while elegant and definitely a quality stick, isn't my 'thing'.

Hey I appreciate it as well! :hanghead: I respect all of DPG's sticks, his Vegas Cubana was the first cigar I ever smoked. First one I really smoked I mean.

AJ: I like the Tabacos Baez, I think it's a great mild-morning cigar. Grab the Favorito and a cup of Dunkin Donuts coffee, forget about it. For being so mild, I think it has amazing flavor.

Thank you Bill, someone who appreciates this stick
I agree on this. Cannot believe only three (plus meself) brothers have liked it. I found it quite tasty, with a unique flavour profile when compared to other DPGs, with a cinamon and coffee flavour that was great!

I tired one of the Belicosos. It was good, but did not have the spice I am used to with Don Pepin cigars. I smoked mine after a nice prime rib dinner and with a glass of single malt scotch.
