  • BOTL UPCOMING MAINTENANCE

Hi Everyone, as mentioned in my introduction post, BOTL needs quite a bit of updating, patching and whatever else I might come across. Over time BOTL may be unreachable on occasion as I do migrations or updates, etc. Just be patient - we'll be back! I'll generally try to keep these maintenances until later in the evenings.

I didnt read the article but I heard this on the radio. Based on my biotech background I would guess they are leaving out the mention of the tobacco being a gmo. They likely transformed it genetically with an engineered agrobacterium tumafaciens. This has a natural genetic modification molecular machinery to hijack a tumor in a plant to utilize its metabolic activity. Then science just exploited it and expanded it to modify an entire plant.

Just did a little searching and I did find mention of agrobacterium. Pretty cool, I studied it a bit in school. The book I used is no longer in print either and it was a darn good book.
