Any of you fellers tried Willett?

Several different ones, Matt, most recently I posted about this one. Which one are you thinking of?

That's the one I got with the purple in it. Purple foil over the cap too. I got it for my neighbor.

Honestly Matt, I was a little disappointed. You can taste the "youth" in this 4 year old bourbon, as well as a very short dry finish. Not bad, just not what I was hoping for. I hope you like it better!

I've heard the purple top is outstanding but it pretty unobtainable or the secondary price is crazy. I've also had Johnny Drum which is a Willett product and it's okay.

Jim, are you speaking of the purple top single barrels that go for hundreds if not thousands? The 4 year bourbon released recently is around $65 MSRP, with the secondary going for $115.

Yes, mine is the 4 year. I got it for $60.

Tom, I wasn't too sure if the purple tops were exclusive to the high end Willett and their 8-year-old wheated bourbon.

The 4 year bourbon version just got released a little over a month ago, Jim, so that's understandable.

A couple Booker's pours last night, Jerry's (25-03) and Pigskin (20-03).

Picked up the latest Booker's, 25-04 Phantom Pipes batch. Meh, it's ok. I've come to the realization that Booker's is unlikely to best anything pre-2020 going forward.

I tried Westland Single Malt out last night, it was good but very grain forward. Interesting. Came home and capped off the night with some Stagg.

Gave the Willett 4 Year another shot, I liked it better this time. Air? Circumstances? I dunno, just liked it better.

Pretty good stuff for around 60$ might be worth a go if you see it. I saw some high resale prices on this and I’d never pay that. (Think Buffalo trace). I like Buffalo trace quite well but it’s expensive here. My woman’s uncle can pick it up in Carolina’s for around 40. Maybe less. Pretty sure he would pick me up whatever because I have picked him up a bottle or two. I get the impression he wants me to ask him but I’m a psycho so I won’t. If he offers I’ll get him to grab me one or two lol.

They claim this should be a shelf stable product in 26.

They have it about 50% of the time at my local places at MSRP. It's definitely a good one for that price.
