My #whiskyadventures are taking me in a radical new direction this time: to India, with the Amrut single malt. The price was right at my local liquor store and I was intrigued.

Undiluted it plays on the palette like a Highlands scotch, with measured astringency and a slight peaty character that is balanced by molasses sweetness and butterscotch on the nose. With a little water the astringency fades to the background and the character of the malt comes to the fore.

This is a great little dram for the money (~$45), and despite the Indian whiskey industry being only 20 years old and this particular example having only matured for 3 years, they're putting out a pretty great product. Would definitely recommend. Paired with a La Palina Classic, with thanks to @mjones9630.
