Get a cutter, but until then......
When smoking cigars with flat caps you can use your thumbnail to puncture the cap in a circle around the top and then pop out what equates to a large punch of the cap and still retain the structure of the wrap. Works in a pinch better than trying to use a knife or scissors.

The one that I used pinched the cigar. If that makes scene. Any recommendations on the type of cutter?
