'True' Friendship None of that Sissy Crap

Are you tired of those sissy 'friendship' poems that always sound good, but never actually come close to reality? Well, here is a series of promises that actually speak of true friendship. You will see no cutesy little smiley faces on this card- Just the stone cold truth of our great friendship..

1. When you are sad -- I will help you get drunk and plot revenge against the sorry bastard who made you sad.

2. When you are blue -- I will try to dislodge whatever is choking you.

3. When you smile -- I will know you are plotting something that I must be involved in.

4. When you are scared -- I will rag on you about it every chance I get.

5. When you are worried -- I will tell you horrible stories about how much Worse it could be until you quit whining.

6. When you are confused -- I will use little words.

7. When you are sick -- Stay the hell away from me until you are well again. I don't want whatever you have.

8. When you fall -- I will point and laugh at your clumsy ass.

9. This is my oath .... I pledge it to the end 'Why?' you may ask; 'because you are my friend'.

Friendship is like peeing your pants, everyone can see it, but only you can feel it's true warmth.

Remember: A friend will help you move. A really good friend will help you move a body. Let me know if I ever need to bring a shovel...

And remember a good friend will bail you out of jail, a true friend will be sitting right next to you saying "Shit, that was fun".

I always think of the story my stepdad tells me. He got a call at 3am from a friend saying he ran over, and killed, a nun with his car. He was shocked to see my stepdad show up with a shovel and a trash bag. Ended up being a prank, thankfully.

True friendship? That's how i'd define it

Had a buddy of mine get caught speeding in SC.

His License was expired, so the "wonderful" SC State Troopers arrested him and detained him.

He called me.

Of course, I grabbed my gear and out the door I went.

You can see where this is headed.

Blue lights....Pulled over...expired CA drivers License....Within three hours of his phone call...I was sitting in the cell with him.

Monday morning the Judge lost his mind at the two State Troopers for detaining two Soldiers who had VALID Driver's Licenses (Active Duty has exemptions for your drivers license).

When we got back to Bragg, The Sergeant Major had a "special" formation just for us -

This is what I expect from each and every one of you Soldiers! We had a Soldier go down; another one immediately went after him. No questions asked, no hesitation. Only loyalty to each other and the unit. THAT IS WHAT I AM TALKING ABOUT!
We got a 4 day pass. And yes, Reed and I are STILL friends to this day, fifteen years later!!!
