  • BOTL UPCOMING MAINTENANCE

Hi Everyone, as mentioned in my introduction post, BOTL needs quite a bit of updating, patching and whatever else I might come across. Over the next few weekends BOTL may be unreachable on occasion as I do migrations or updates, etc. Just be patient - we'll be back! I'll generally try to keep these maintenances until later in the evenings.

Type of lighter or spark device and why?

Question for the guys with Ronson Jetlite:
I have a couple of cans of Colibiri fuel, can I use that in a Jetlite?
I personally use Vector in all my butane torches, but thats because that's what my b&m carries. I've heard some people use the cheap ronson and it actually makes it, in their mind, last longer & work better... I guess personal preference plays into everything.

As far as what I use on a daily basis... which ever torch has fuel in it at the time... I have a ronson, deal extreme blazer knock off, xikar dual flame, ever torch w/dual light, and a vector dual flame. If I'm grabbing while their all full I tend to grab the vector and the ronson... the vector has 3 punches on it so I don't need to grab my cutter then ;)

I call preference on this one. I own a single torch lighter which gets the job done nicely, honestly any thing with a flame can do the same but the torch gives you a more precise toast...........and it looks so damn Cool!:smokingbo

Yes you can use that. I love the ronson lighters because they will take the cheap ronson fuel and keep on tickin. the colibri is better and certainly won't harm it.

It depends on what I have with me at the time. I've got single flames, double flames, triple flames, creme brulee (RP Torch), cedar spills, AB Table top burner, matches, etc. Just depends on which is closest or which I have on me at the time.

I will use any type of flame, but prefer a torch. I have several single, several double and a couple big triple torches. For large RG smokes the triple torch is awesome. Not sure who said they get hot enough to change the flavor, but I disagree. The reason I say that is that if used properly a torch’s flame should never touch the foot of the cigar. The heat from the torch will toast the foot from an inch away. Once the foot has a nice dark char, you can move it a bit closer, to get it burning. I’ll stop and blow on the cherry to make sure it is evenly lit. Very rarely do I draw on my cigar during the lighting process. The foot is a nice glow before I ever put my lips on it. Of course if you stick a 2500 degree flame up against the tobacco I could see how that might change something.
Exatly...any form of fire to light our cigars will work as long as you don't let the heat from the source overpower the tobacco. Torches if used in the right way will not change the flavor but a lot of people let the hot flame touch the foot..and that is when the problem begins. Always let the heat from the "source" light your cigar and a triple torch takes practice to light it the right way.
