  • BOTL UPCOMING MAINTENANCE

Hi Everyone, as mentioned in my introduction post, BOTL needs quite a bit of updating, patching and whatever else I might come across. Over time BOTL may be unreachable on occasion as I do migrations or updates, etc. Just be patient - we'll be back! I'll generally try to keep these maintenances until later in the evenings.

After $10,000 points or buying $10,000 at transactions that require a signature one of the gifts is $25 bucks to Ruth Chris's Steakhouse.

It's not. I signed up with the, well I'm gonna use my debit card anyway mentality.

I try to put most on my CC and then pay it off. That way the points add up on my CC, which is Citibank.

I never ever ever ever use my debit card.
With a debit card, if somebody gets the #, it comes from your bank account.
With a CC I'm never liable for unauthorized charges, since it's the bank's money.

My bank has fraud protection on debit card purchases just like a credit card as long as you report it in 60 days. They used to have visa but moved to mastercard this year. A lot of places that have visa or mastercard debit cards will back it just like a credit card these days.

That's true, but think of it this way:
Someone stole your debit card, the money is already out of your account. You have to actively seek to be reimbursed. In addition, you won't have access to your money until bank processes the fraud.
With a CC, no money of yours ever disappears, the cc issuer takes away the charges without any sense of urgancy.

Besides most debit cards can't beat the various rewards cards out there coupled with additional card benefits (extended warranty, trip insurance, car insurance)

Sermed makes great points. Banks are really too much of a hassle to deal with when trying to YOUR money back.
