  • BOTL UPCOMING MAINTENANCE

Hi Everyone, as mentioned in my introduction post, BOTL needs quite a bit of updating, patching and whatever else I might come across. Over time BOTL may be unreachable on occasion as I do migrations or updates, etc. Just be patient - we'll be back! I'll generally try to keep these maintenances until later in the evenings.

Large ring gauge is getting hot too. That's all the vendors were talking about at the IPCPR, large ring gauge, large ring gauge. Hell, Gurkha even copied the Nub already.:nono: :frownno:

I am a fan of the 46 rg at the moment. Everything I love lately is best at or very close to a 46 in my opinion.

you know the large ring guage doesnt really appeal to me,and some of the lanceros are too small. I'd rather a mid 40's ring, idk it just seams like it fits well, not to small, not too fat.

I think short fat cigars are getting all the love these days.. the lancero is just a great size for a cigar and will keep coming back to give these larger RG's a run for their money. Its not easy to roll a lancero compared to the larger RG's but if rolled right is one of the best smokes you can have.

What's old is new. Lanceros are pretty much what used to be called panatelas, and they were the most popular size (and candela was the most popular wrapper) in the US back in the '50's and '60's. And yes, I am old enough to both remember them and have smoked 'em back then.

I saw the Gurkah "nub" befroe the Nub hit the shelves. I bought a tin of 5 and they are good stuff. 4 x56 or something like that.

i would have to agree with others in that large ring guage is "IT" right now. Lanceros have always been around, but fly under the radar for the most part. The Padilla 1932 lancero helped out the lancero image. I would say the robusto was IT for the first part of this centruy, but the large guages like 56+ are now IT.

Give it time though, it'll change.

My personal preference is a torpedo or a robusto or a lancero or sometimes a corona and often times a corona gorda, and occasionally a churchill, but every now and then a double robusto.

Yeah, it seems like large RG cigars are everywhere. I'm not a big fan of them. I prefer cigars between 46-50 RG. I've also had problems with the wrappers coming apart on some large RG cigars that I have smoked in the past 6 months. Can't be my humidor because I smoke cigars as fast I as buy them. I bought a Rocky Patel 1992 Vintage that was a 54 or a 56 RG and it unraveled. I really like the RP Edge series, but the vintage just don't seem to have much flavor to me. Perhaps my taste buds are dead due to hot sauces, spicy food, 145 proof bourbon and strong cigars.:pimp1::

You might want to let the cigars sit in the humi for a few weeks to be sure they stabilize to the right humidity. A lot of retailers ship their cigars too "wet" and sometimes some cigars are too "dry"

I thought that we were done with all of this! Make the madness stop!

I could have sworn that we had hit the max of all this crap.
