  • BOTL UPCOMING MAINTENANCE

Hi Everyone, as mentioned in my introduction post, BOTL needs quite a bit of updating, patching and whatever else I might come across. Over time BOTL may be unreachable on occasion as I do migrations or updates, etc. Just be patient - we'll be back! I'll generally try to keep these maintenances until later in the evenings.

Question for the gang. In my brief search I didn't find what I was looking for.
Does the warning information, or more specifically the lack of any warning information, on a tin have any indication as to the potential age of the tin? In my decision to explore straight Virginia options I decided to go with something I really haven't heard anything about, Samuel Gawith Scottish Autumn Flake, and the tin is completely devoid of any warning whatsoever. I have yet to crack the top so something might be labeled inside, but I don't think that meets warning requirements.
Thanks for any input.

I think on some of the tins I've noticed there's a month/year stamped on it. McClelland and Cornell and Diehl I think does it. I haven't had any Samuel Gawith baccy yet, so I don't know if there's special code or something hidden on it. I'm curious as well though...

As far as the labels on this tin, the front is just the art and name of the blend, the back has a small barcode with a product designation of SGSATN, which I assume to be Samuel Gawith Scottish Autumn Tin or at least something along those lines.
I'm actually a little disappointed I don't have a nice little paragraph from the marketing department to read telling me all the amazing things that will happen when smoking this tobacco :ROFLMAO:

SG Autumn Flake was released in 2014.

Typically, the black and white warning labels indicate UK market as they smear those labels on everything, but they don't really indicate any particular age of which I am aware.

If you find a SG tin without a barcode, it was most likely pre-2007. If I recall, the red banner was added in 2010. Aside from that, it is just the tin art that can help.

Cool info, thanks!

OK, @cgraunke now you're just showing off ;)
Here's a super crappy pic I took of the front of the tin. The back is really just a paper sticker with the bar code. I don't think this pic helps anyone with anything, but it's interesting, to me at least, how minimalistic this label is.

I'm actually pretty excited to pick up the other "seasons". Might have to skip this winter and start up again in the spring. I think the empty tins would also make for a nice little display type of thing.
I didn't realize this was such a new line, does anyone have an idea if this will be a revolving thing? So a new "winter" blend each year?

EDIT: In thinking back to the release date and no year on the tin, I have a feeling this will not be a rotating blend.
