Mine has been doing that too when in the single digits. Luckily I heard the pump come on and kept running for longer than usual. Had to go down and unplug before it burned up. Luckily my sump never gets high enough to overflow. It's a brand new pump. Bought the house last year and the one that was in there hadn't worked in probably a decade.
