  • BOTL UPCOMING MAINTENANCE

Hi Everyone, as mentioned in my introduction post, BOTL needs quite a bit of updating, patching and whatever else I might come across. Over the next few weekends BOTL may be unreachable on occasion as I do migrations or updates, etc. Just be patient - we'll be back! I'll generally try to keep these maintenances until later in the evenings.

What are really bad cigars to avoid?

I had a Fonseca the other day that I couldn't tolerate but I know guys that love them. Its all in personal taste my brother.
Yeah, I didn't enjoy the one I smoked either. I also cannot stand Drew Estate Naturals and the Tabac Especial Negro. I tried to like them, but they made me want to vomit.

Real quick here. The Altadis Siglo (Cohiba ripoff band) is the bad one. The Gran Habanos Silgo 3 fumasis a good mixed filler cigar for a good price

I'll +1 to this. I've smoked a few different Acid's, just for the sake of giving them a fair shake... and boy did I regret every last one of them.
+2 why ruin good natural tobacco with artificial flavor. that being said, i know people who swear by them. so as stated before everyones pallet is different so smoke what you like, try new things, everything else is commentary.

I'm gonna second the Victor Sinclair nomination.

And I'm gonna go out on a limb (because I know some people really dig them) and say that I've tried various Nubs and did not care for a single one of them. I actually get a little bit nauseous every time I see an ad for them.

Partagas for me. I haven't smoked a single nc partagas that I liked. The last one I tried got tossed well before the halfway mark.

The only bad cigar I've had that I remember being really bad was an H. Upmann Vintage Cameroon Robusto.

I'll probably never have another, so I won't know if it was just that one stick or if they're all that bad.

Like many have said, taste is very subjective...One man's trash is another man's treasure.

Personally, I dislike Gurkhas, and after heraing about the dye they add to their wrappers I will never buy anything from Rocky Patel again. Period.

One note...Be sure to try at least two cigars from any line you wish to explore. Reason being you may try 1 cigar from a line and be unlucky enough to try that one bad cigar from the box....Meaning that you gave up on what could very well be your favorite, go-to cigar! try a few to be sure you have given that brand a fair shake.

i don't understand all the Gurkha hate. i've been heartily enjoying the Micro Batch series lately. i guess i haven't had the same experiences you've all had. :dunno:

personally, i'd say La Gloria Cubana Maduro. i'm in the same camp as those who advise trying 2 sticks before passing judgement... but this one was such an utter failure that i can't see myself spending my hard-earned ducats on another one.

Truly, each person's taste is their own, as has been repeated 1000's of times. I have a friend that likes Macanudos...

I haven't had a Macanudo yet that I've liked.

Name one that does not make you want to lick your dogs genitals to get the taste out of your mouth after smoking it. :glassesgr

Gurkha used to make(they may still) the Symphony 101 with a nice maduro wrapper. Not sure it was broadleaf maduro but it was the best Gurkha made.

Just myself, Rocky Patel, Gurkhas and Acid's. But again that is just me. Someone else may love them and ones I like others may say it smokes like it just came out of a skunks anal orifice.
