Opened up my new Monte No. 5 5X5 yesterday. First one out of the sleeve was super tight, and I pulled the biggest plug I've pulled out of a cigar in years from it. Still too tight after playing with the PerfectDraw, so I pitched it and grabbed another to make sure this wasn't going to be a bad batch in general. Thankfully, it smoked well. Had a couple other "budget" smokes in the PM watching hockey.

Smoked a Party Short out of each of my 2 new boxes to get a gauge on how they were.

The newer box (TUX AGO 21) had lighter wrappers than the older (SOP SEP 20) and I usually prefer those. I did note that the construction of the newer box seemed a bit fustic, with some slightly "slanted" feet on a few.

Turns out in this case I prefer the darker wrappered ones, but by a slight margin. I also had zero problems with draw and burn despite the noted construction anomalies. Bottom line is I'm happy with both boxes, which is even more important now with the price of CCs outta control.
