Semi-stumbled into one of the nicest cigar/whiskey pairings I've ever had, and definitely smoked the best cigar of 2020 so far last night.
My last SVF MAY 05 Upmann Mag 46 was the cigar. I bought several 3x5 cardboard packs years back, and transferred them all to an old 50 cab. The change over time was amazing as I know some of you experienced as well.
So since it was my last '05, I decided to pour something barreled in '05 to go with it, and picked a Whistlepig 15 year old Single Barrel.
The pairing was amazing. The Mag 46 was the best of the bunch, a cedar bomb in the best way possible. The WP had a sweet nose of apricots and banana pudding, and the palate was a perfect subtly sweet complement for the cigar.
