  • BOTL UPCOMING MAINTENANCE

Hi Everyone, as mentioned in my introduction post, BOTL needs quite a bit of updating, patching and whatever else I might come across. Over time BOTL may be unreachable on occasion as I do migrations or updates, etc. Just be patient - we'll be back! I'll generally try to keep these maintenances until later in the evenings.

What have I done?

I've been smoking cigars for the past few months regularly, mostly when I golf. I've found that fiddling with a cigar actually helps my golf scores a bit, as it keeps me from replaying the bad shots over and over while I'm walking to the next shot.

But I'm also a fly fisherman and fly tyer. And if you look at any of the illustrations from the 40's, 50's, and 60's, there's always a pipe involved. So today, on a whim, while in a local general store, I bought a MM Mizzou Bent on closeout. Then went to the local tobacco pusher for some pipe cleaners, a Czech tool, and 2 oz of their house blend. I've not even smoked a pipe yet and I already placed an order for a Bent Diplomat and 4 oz of Trout Stream. And I find myself mesmerized by bent Brandys....

Oh oh.

dude, don't sweat it! take as much time as you need, and have fun with it. you don't NEED a couple dozen briars, or dozens of different blends, all the tins and jars lined up...

you'll WANT it, but not need it. o)

OK, first bowl down of my local shop's "#1 selling blend". Must have relit 10 times on that MM cob. Even still, much better taste than probably half the cigars I've smoked. Very enjoyable. My tongue hurts a bit with the bourbon, and I've got a bit of a catch in my throat, but don't have the post-cigar taste I've struggled with at times.

I went fly fishing this morning, and think this would have accompanied it VERY nicely. So, thoughts on a "proper" pipe for a fly fisherman?

Biotene. Doesn't cure tongue bite but it's the best thing out there to help.

Welcome to the darkside.
