  • BOTL UPCOMING MAINTENANCE

Hi Everyone, as mentioned in my introduction post, BOTL needs quite a bit of updating, patching and whatever else I might come across. Over time BOTL may be unreachable on occasion as I do migrations or updates, etc. Just be patient - we'll be back! I'll generally try to keep these maintenances until later in the evenings.

What is this on my tobacco?

I purchased a 250 gram box of SG FVF that was dated 2011. It needed to be rehydrated so I used some new moistiner discs and distilled water distributed throughout the tobacco in the jar. It feels like its about the right smoking moisture, I like FVF on the dry side. There is a lot of sugar crystals on the flakes but I didn't notice these major spots before it was rehydrated. Obviously my concern is mold but it does not wipe off and its not fuzzy. Anyone ever see something like this before? Any opinion is appreciated. 20170202_214113.jpg 20170202_214141.jpg

That looks like major bloom. Never seen it so intense as it is on the top of the pictures, only seen it lightly like towards the bottom

enjoy that :)

Don't think it's mold. Mold wouldn't favor one strand of the tobacco like that

Thanks for the input. You can see what looks like normal sugar crystals but there is the tan colored stuff that is questionable. There are 5 or 6 flakes like this. If anyone would like to see it in person I would be more than happy to send them a small sample with one of the questionable flakes and a bit of the normal looking stuff for comparison. Just shoot me a PM with your address, I will try to get it out today.
