  • BOTL UPCOMING MAINTENANCE

Hi Everyone, as mentioned in my introduction post, BOTL needs quite a bit of updating, patching and whatever else I might come across. Over time BOTL may be unreachable on occasion as I do migrations or updates, etc. Just be patient - we'll be back! I'll generally try to keep these maintenances until later in the evenings.

I'm not big on aging cigars, I don't really have the room/will power to do it. However, I have lately been thinking about getting some cigars to put in the humi for when my son becomes of age and can share his first smoke with his old man. I think it's a cool idea and gives me something special to look forward to. It's going to be a while since he's only 14 months right now so I may wait a few more years before I pick out the cigars (who knows what may come on the market in the next 3-5 years). Just thought I'd get some opinions from those who have aged cigars what some good choices would be.

Some of the best aged smokes I have had were R&J ex. #4 and a PSD4. I've had one of each that were at least 10 years, they were probably the top 5 cigars I have ever smoked. I would find something you like right now, by a box and set it aside. I know it is hard. I have the same problem.

Get a box of H.Upmann Sir Winstons from the year he was born and maybe month if possible. When he is of age you can have his first cigar with him and gift him the rest of the box.

DO THIS...BUT...smoke one cigar per year on his birthday, so you can enjoy what the age is doing to them. Then smoke one with him on his 18th B'day...he will most likely like it, and you'll get to keep the last 5..18 year old Sir Winnies.

I'm not convinced I could be that patient but I might have to try.

Not only do certain Island smokes age well, but rumor has it that NC Punch age very well also. A well respect member of the cigar community, Colin Ganley, has been doing this for several years with the Punch line.

Many ciagr will benefit from the test of time though!

I would go for a limitada CC. May i ask what year and month he is born?
IF you dont mind paying a bit i would go with the Cohiba Piramides 2006 limitada, the people who really knows cohiba says this is one of the best cigars they have ever made and 2006 was a really good cc year! IF you want to go a bit cheaper athe Ramon Allones Celestiales Finos is showing amazing potential and in 7-10 years will blow you away! If you need help getting ccs let me know and ill se what we can do!:ccowboy:

Sir Winnies With Out A Doubt. There is a well respected brother here that swears by them. I had to try them just to see the fuss. I am now a crack addict to them. I'll share any cigar even them but it pains me more then gifting my last franks.

My S-I-L is doing exactly that, he was gifted a box of Padron 80's when my granddaughter Lillie was born. He smoked the first one two weeks ago when she celebrated her first birthday.

Trini fundi's are also great to put down. The less expensive side would be a box of padron 1000 series. I think a cab of t-110s would do well.

By the time I started smoking cigars and buying them real seriously my kids were already 10 and up. I am however doing a version of the same thing with my grandson though. The cigar of choice was a box of Cohiba Esplendidos. Here is what I'm doing with him....

18 - Smoke one on each birthday through age eighteen
2 - Enjoy one with him the day he graduates high school
2 - Enjoy one with him the day he graduates college
2 - Enjoy one with him to celebrate him getting married
1 - Give him the last cigar to smoke the day his first child is born along with a new box for him to do the same with his child

If you need me to lokk up the kind of cigars that you have a hard time getting let me know when you know what you want! I think for starters you should decide how much you want to spend, maybe that will make it a bit more easy!

I agree with Slit on that 100%, I smoked a 3 yr old Padron 3000 and was amazed at the flavor and taste!
