  • BOTL UPCOMING MAINTENANCE

Hi Everyone, as mentioned in my introduction post, BOTL needs quite a bit of updating, patching and whatever else I might come across. Over the next few weekends BOTL may be unreachable on occasion as I do migrations or updates, etc. Just be patient - we'll be back! I'll generally try to keep these maintenances until later in the evenings.

What would you pay for this stick?

I found a store in upstate NY that had 6 opusx 20 yr blue label left. I was so excited and stupid enough to pay $50 each for a few. I don’t plan on smoking them for a long time, but still, too much to pay.
Assume your in NY State so you make big bucks right? The Fifty Dollar price point, is like nothing for people with big jobs, or living in Kalifornia were the Good Governor Brown adds a 68% Tax on Cigar whole sale prices. Plus City, Country, and State Sales Tax on top of the first share harpoon they jab you with.

So here's the rub. Unless you're in NYC or Long Island - pay rates in NYS aren't anything special because the cost of living isn't the worst (although it is far worse than most other states). So 97% of the state makes shit money - while people in NYC and the surrounding counties get paid more - but it doesn't matter because it costs them FAR more to live in that area.

Mark ups in NYS suck due to taxation (packs of name brand cigarettes are regularly $11+ - glad I don't smoke). Doesn't matter what you make - everything is overpriced.

Wow I thought Michigan was priced high on cigarettes at $6-$7 a pack, looks like a bargain compared to NY. Glad I don’t smoke them

Would it be worth it to travel out of state once a month to purchase cigars for less cost, or is the risk not worth it?

Well with taxes at that rate it may be worth it to enforce it to the authorities. I know bootlegging liquor has been around since time and taxes began. Very interesting history of bootleggers and rum running. NASCAR, Kennedy"s and many other wealthy and famous family's.
