Only kind you can buy by the ounce that I know of is Cyprian. So each house will essentially be the same I do not think there is a big distinction of latakia if there is even more than one producer in Cyprus. I think Syrian has a smokier wood aroma in the blends ive smoked.

Today I had some Irish Flake. Pretty strong in the nicotine department, but lacked flavor. It was a little bland and just earthy to me. I will give it a shot in another pipe and some more time in the open tin.

We've all messed up, hell I still have to repack a bowl every now and then. Don't stress that or relights, just sit back, relax, and enjoy the smoke.

When I was using the Frank method of packing id screw it up more than not. Now I am a pack, take a quick draw test, and smoke guy. I push it down from the outside of the tobacco similar to the way the Frank method is done. I just couldn't get a reliable smoke using the "easy but messy" technique.

I dont try to keep it light with out having to relight. I dont care how many times I have to reach for my flame nothing to get bent out of shape over.

Brother, I have found over the course of my life that there are very few things to get bent out of shape over... Sex is one of them, but only if you're doing it right... and this, this is no where near the top of the list.

Yeah I usually light a couple times ever bowl and made the mistakes a a newbie of always trying to keep it going which led me to smoke hot, and more tongue bite, wet bowls, pipe baccy doesn't go funky like a cigar after it goes out

Silverflake is good. Had a peppery spice to it that i wasn't expecting from a predominately virginia base.

Then I also had some PH Dark Strong Flake. Similar to Old Dark Fired but smoother and less dark fired character. I like both equally. I wonder what they'd be like mixed......hmm.

Strong but not very flavorful.

I followed it up with a cob of Kendal Kentucky from Gawith & Hoggarth. This is a great smoke in a cob. I dont think its too much. Thanks for the sample Dave. I think I will be buying some bulk in the future.
