Wasn't even sure how to search for it. I know these tend to be a gimmick but I thought I'd pick one up to try it.

OP, in all seriousness, It looks like a perfecto or salomon that they flared the foot out almost even.

I totally don't understand the point of this shape.

I'd just go with figurado too
Interestingly enough, there is an Opus X 'Python' (I believe a one-of or something just for display) that is shaped like what the OP posted. Not sure if that's why they named it the Python but it makes sense with your description come to think of it.
