Aside from the base OS apps (calendar, camera, maps, calculator, notes, Safari), I've got my iPhone basically set to keep me as instantly informed and connected as possible with what I need.

HotSchedules (scheduling client for work)
Weather HD
RadarUS
Facebook
Facebook Messenger
Twitter
Yelp
ESPN ScoreCenter
ESPN Radio
Chicago Tribune
CNN
Pandora
Q101
TuneIn Radio
Cor.kz
Tapatalk
iMapMyRIDE+
GasBuddy
RedLaser
Amazon
Best Buy
eBay
iBooks
Dictionary.com
Google Translate
PNC Mobile
My Verizon
Capital One
Starbucks

And then when I'm bored, I have some good games.

Words with Friends (LOVE Words!!)
Solitaire
Blackjack
Jack or Better Video Poker
WSOP
Flick Golf
Flick Soccer
Angry Birds
Cut the Rope

That being said, I haven't sat down on a desktop computer in almost 5 months outside of the office because I have zero need to.

Tapatalk and Facebook are probably the two most used. Espn's app. AP's app for news alerts.

I love these lists... can't believe I didn't think to look for a Google Voice App!?!

How many people use Mint.com? It seems like a great service, but I just can't get myself to enter all my important accounts/passwords on one company server. That company is just begging to get hacked. I would do it for basic site passwords etc, but it's all your financial and sensitive data.

CC, watch the news for the iPhone 5 coming before your return period is over, I'd recommend getting the newest device for several reasons.

In addition to all of the great ones mentioned, several of which I use as well, check out CHP Traffic - only 99 cents.

It will give you traffic updates direct from CHP. If there is traffic backed up on my drive home from work, I can get on there and find out where and what is going on. Then I can navigate around it.

I am up here in Northern Cali, and I bet it would be even more useful down in SoCal! :)

INRIX Traffic - live traffic updates
Weather Eye
Skype
Stocks
Zumodrive - Cloud storage, use it for storing pics to free up room on my 16 gig
1Passsword - great for securely storing your sensitive info
Shazam - name that tune
Flixster - movie show times
BMO mobile - only useful if you bank with Montreal
Units - good for converting stuff like lb-kg C-F weights etc
Sportacular - pretty sure yahoo owns it.
StarWalk - gives you a terrestrial view of the sky from where your at on earth. pretty cool.
