Whopping Cranes

Had a rare visit from a pair of Whooping Cranes today here on the lake that borders our property. This is a first sighting for me.

I have never seen Whooping Cranes only Sandhill.

@Almi @Horsefeathers Yes those are bands and radio transmitters on the legs. Both are males. It seems that the Eastern population of Whoopers is dominated by males. One bird is the 37 bird hatched in 2007 and the other is the 20 bird hatched in 2013. This information was determined using the bands and photos submitted.

Very cool! And knowing all their details makes it even cooler! It's amazing sometimes how you can get pictures of such amazing wildlife.
