So recently I was bombed a NewAir 281E. As soon as I found out I knew I wanted to put drawers in it. So I reached out to John at https://cigar-coolers.com

He gave me a list of options and pricing. I settled on five drawers and a shelf along with two divider kits, no exotic wood just plain old spanish cedar. He let me know that at the time no work would start until April and would likely ship near the end of the month. I placed my order with him and patiently waited. April comes and after the first week I get a progress report, and then a second. I can see it getting closer to being complete! Early this week John emails me and lets me know that he's shipping! Once he does he sends a Fedex tracking #. It'll be here in two days!! YESSSS.

So it shows up today and let me tell you, the wait and cost was worth it. Seriously if you're looking for shelves hit John up. The wait is so very worth it! He has the dimensions for most common coolers already and if he doesn't he'll work with you.

Some notes on my 281
  • Popped the tabs off with a pair of pliers. They just basically folded over and snapped no problem.
  • The top drawer wasn't sitting as flush as the rest. On the fan cover at the rear of the cooler were two sets of tabs. These tabs were in place to hold the temperature sensor. I popped both of them off (pliers again but being careful not to destroy the fan cover itself). Once I popped those off the drawer sat appropriately flush. The temp sensor just kinda dangles slightly, but I'm not worried about it since it sucks anyways and I'm working on automating my cooling / humidity control.
