Alright guys. I've had my newair for a couple months and I can't get the smell out of this thing. I haven't been in a big hurry to set it up so I haven't pushed it but its starting to get on my nerves. I've wiped it down, had baking soda and newspaper in it and the plastic smell is just still there. Any suggestions?

is it really strong? or just a faint smell?

with both my cooler and wino, there was a faint smell after a wipe down + newspaper and baking soda, I just put the sticks in anyway and the smell went away

I had the same problem. I added a few empty boxs and some cheap yard gars I wouldn't miss. After a week with it running no more smell.

Put it outside in the sun for a day when it's above freezing with the door propped open and facing the sun. It needs to be somewhat of a decent day. Try to avoid wind etc.
bring inside that night and let it air out for two more days.
Go online and get a small amount of activated charcoal and place in a shallow Tupperware dish. Leave in unit with your cigars for the next 3-6 months. (It will also pull out ammonia from young cigars ;) like CCs.

Is the activated charcoal the same stuff you can get at a local petsmart in the aquarium section?

This is a big issue. Same unit. Took 3 weeks to get the smell to tolerable levels. No WAY I was putting cigars in there with the plastic smell.

I bought the activated charcoal at Petsmart. That helped. Wiped several times with baking soda. That helped. Left newspapers in there. That helped.

I think it is mostly about time, and not being impatient. G'luck!

Mine was a scratch and dent, so good chance it was refurbished and that is why it didn't show a strong smell.

It's a pretty strong smell. I've had two different boxes of baking soda in the for about a month each plus had newspaper. I'll try some carbon. It's enough of a smell there's no way it wouldn't affect cigars
