Have you watched it in tandem with the Dark Side of the Moon album?

Dark side of the rainbow is fantastic. I also love to watch the midget hang himself. Of course its tough to watch because they completly jacked up the meaning of the movie making dorthys' slippers ruby and not silver but I understand you have to make it flashy being the first color flick and all but I still wonder how many people forget that they represent the fact that the silver standard was better. Great movie and book. L Frank Baum told a lot in that story that I think a lot of people miss unfortunately.

Not trying to "threadjack" but, they released the movie a few months back on Blu-Ray and it's just unbelieveable!

I forgot about the midget... freaky shit. Darkside of Oz is always fun to show people that don't know. The 2 instances where they mash that really stand out to me are when she opens the door, it changes to color, and it goes "cha-ching" at the beginning of money AND during the second time the CD is played, they all pass out in the poppy fields during the Breathe reprise David says: "Far away, across the field, the tolling of the iron bell, caused the faithful to their knees, to hear the softly spoken magic spells".

For those that don't know... this site has everything you need: http://www.everwonder.com/david/wizardofoz/

Of course the last time I've done this was in college.. :bottle:

Interesting concept will have to try. Went to youtube the midget is a peacock wing.
See, maybe I am hoping for it but I think in the old VHS and Beta versions it was midget that was later changed. For those who want to try it on the third lion roar, the MGM lion that greats you at the begining of their movies, you start playing DSOTM. Many drunken college nights have been spent doing this. High School teacher got me into the movie for the underlying story and college, like for so many other things, just broadened my opinions on it. I still think one flew over the cuckoos nest is my favorite but this is a very close second. I watch it at least once a month just because you learn so much each time.

Fraid so.

The so-called "munchkin suicide" scene occurs at the very end of the Tin Woodsman sequence, as Dorothy, the Scarecrow, and the Tin Woodsman head down the road on their way to the Emerald City. This sequence begins with Dorothy and the Scarecrow trying to pick fruit from the talking apple trees, encompasses their discovery of the rusted tin man and their encounter with the Wicked Witch of the West (who tries to set the Scarecrow on fire), and ends with the trio heading off to Oz in search of the Wizard. To give the indoor set used in this sequence a more "outdoors" feel, several birds of various sizes were borrowed from the Los Angeles Zoo and allowed to roam the set. (A peacock, for example, can be seen wandering around just outside the Tin Woodsman's shack while Dorothy and the Scarecrow attempt to revive him with oil.) At the very end of this sequence, as the three main characters move down the road and away from the camera, one of the larger birds standing at the back of the set moves around and spreads its wings. No munchkin, no hanging — just a big bird.

Who knows though... it could be a huge cover up!!! :pokemyeye

Thats the second time a damn big bird pooped on my parade. I have heard the argument many times and you can definitely tell in the new high definition version but I still would like to believe it wasn't a bird back in the day. I would also like to believe this was the first time a lot of these midgets got to see other midgets and just decided to have wild orgies on the set because who knew so many existed and they never thought they would see their kind again. I'm not into midget porn but the idea amuses me. You got the original tin man breaking out and midgets making out. I am very easily amused though.

Hey man. Believe what you want. That is a much better story than a bird opening its wing. But you gotta check out that second vid I posted.

It was a very convincing video. I guess I will just have to find something else to believe in I suppose. This is like finding out about Santa all over again, you know the truth but your not every ready for the fact your parents lied to you.
